The mother of all Vampire movies and a sound track to kick ass. My alllllllllll time favourite movie on the planet deserves nothing more than extra heart to give an awesome 11/11
FUCKING AWESOME! The Lost Boys is kind of a ridiculous and cheesy film, but it’s still a fucking masterpiece! Probably the only good vampire movie I have ever seen. The film’s aesthetic!! *cries* So beautiful!! Some great 80s actors involved in the film. AMAZING soundtrack! The Doors fits in with The Lost Boys so perfectly smooth. The movie’s theme song “Cry Little Sister” is also so chilling and beautiful. The setting of the movie was the perfect choice, and the cave! My god, if only that cave were real, I’d pay good money to go see it. The Lost Boys is a typical vampire movie, however it still touches on comedy, drama, and is kind of a coming-of-age film, where trying to discover self-identity is involved. It is an extremely well-built film. And man, is it stylish! Please watch this film instead of that cheesy ass romantic bullshit film called Twilight.
80s atmosphere and style, and genuinely good tension. Not really a full on horror, but it has its moments. Lots of light comedy. It'#39;s a very well made movie. Probably the type of wacky script that could only work in the 80s. Keifer plays the bully very well, like he did in Stand By Me. 6.5 but ill give 7. Not sure how much replay value this has.
Jason Patric was such an inspiration in this movie. What an iconic look he gave us we really were not ready.

One of my favourite films of all time, just fun with vampires.
The Lost Boys is an absolute classic that I can't get enough of. An MTV-era popcorn flick that still delivers every time. With its killer soundtrack, stylish vampire aesthetic, and endlessly quotable lines, it's the perfect blend of horror, humor, and '80s cool. This cult favorite never gets old, and watching it feels like hanging out with one of the coolest undead gangs in cinema.
The Lost Boys is 100% 80's cinema in all the wrong ways - A band of ridiculously dressed, big haired, tough-guy teenaged vampires trying ferociously to be cool, yet thwarted by a couple of 6th graders dressed as Rambo and Vanilla Ice using a comic book as their guide, trying equally as hard to hide the fact they haven't yet hit puberty. And the cherry on top? We get a Tim Cappello performance.

A Great Vampire movie overall, the music, humor and setting were all spot on, honestly I could have watched more. A really enjoyable take on the vampire genre, "Kiefer Sutherland" was a great cast as "David" he really suited the role. [spoiler] When the kids formed up to go to the vampires lair and essentially start a war with the vampires, I was thinking how on earth are they gonna pull this off, but the ending was great from the holy water pistols to the giant stakes. [/spoiler] My only real criticism would be that [spoiler] I was disappointed by the fight between David and Michael or even Michael and Max for that matter as they were pretty short, I was expecting a longer fight sequence between these characters. From director Joel Schumacher comes the cult classic vampire film _The Lost Boys_. The story follows a family that moves to the beach community of Santa Carla, California, and is soon preyed upon by a vampire clan that tries to seduce the oldest son into joining them. Kiefer Sutherland leads the cast and gives a seminal performance. And the Two Coreys (Corey Haim 'amp; Corey Feldman), provide a lot of fun comic relief. Schumacher does a great job directing, creating a captivating surreal visual aesthetic that enhances the fantasy themes, and the soundtrack is exceptionally well-done and includes the unforgettable theme song “Cry Little Sister.” Entertaining and full of thrills, _The Lost Boys_ is a groundbreaking film with a unique vision.

'gt;*"Drink some of this. Be one of us."* So American, so late 80s and so stylish! From the eccentric clothes, wild hair styles, explosive soundtrack and character dynamics. ***The Lost Boys*** is essentially a vampire hazing gone terribly wrong. It's everything a vampire movie should be, it has romance, "teenagers", the comedy works, the characters really pop, some solid scares, great practical effects and the vampires are so cool. The brother dynamics between Michael and Sam are the heart of this movie, at least for me. One thing that bothered me was the exagerated name calling, take a shot every time you hear someone say mom, Sam or Michael. Some weird choices here and there, like that awkward sex scene. Love the storyline of Sam and the Frog brothers with the comic books. The grandpa might just be my favorite character. Amazing third act but I totally saw that twist coming a mile away. Best way to end the movie!
Full of things that made 80s movies a blast, but Joel Schumacher was never a great director and it shows here. Film is so-so other than it's style, until it's Home Alone-esque ending.
Not gonna lie, somehow I have never seen this. I was blown away by how good it holds up now on a first watch. The cast, plot, and even the jokes still crushed. Probably one of my favorite 80’s movies- don’t be surprised if I watch this 5 times in the next year. Masterpiece tbh
For some reason I had high expectations and those weren't fullfilled, it might grow on me after a rewatch. I love the 80's setting and the music,all the actors do a great job. The story is okay. I knew it was a comedy/horror so I was not expecting a scary movie yet the balance seems off to me. In the end I just felt really neutral and didn't care for many of the characters. If anything Corey Feldman would be my favorite cuz his parts reminded me a lot of "Stand by Me".
A 1980s teenager-vampire story that still works and is good entertainment for an evening. The good cast helps to make the story believable.

There should be a drinking game for how many times they say "Michael" in the movie. Also, when the song Cry little sister played, that was the most cinematic experience I had with the movie.

I didn'#39;t grow up watching this movie. I didn'#39;t expect it to be a horror comedy like the Evil Dead franchise. I enjoyed it. I can see why it'#39;s considered a cult classic.

Every generation needs a good vampire movie. This is the one for Generation X. Sexy and brutal vampires set up shop in a coastal California community and seduce the local populace right out of their blood. Not sure how it will play with younger generations as it is very dated, but I like it just fine, thank you very much.

_The Lost Boys_ may be the most vampire goth movie ever made, but it's not perfect. The main drawback is that, being an '80s movie, it is a teen comedy first, and a horror movie second - in fact it's an hour before we get any full-on vampire action, and from there until the end, I think it's pretty solid. Tonally, this sits somewhere between _The Monster Squad_, and _Fright Night_. Now, while I think this is a classic, and mandatory viewing for anyone who loves vampire movies, it feels like it needed to be longer. I have seen _The Lost Boys_ so many times, and it was only upon watching it tonight, for the hundredth time, that I really noticed all the holes. If the biggest flaw in a movie is that I wanted more of it, that's pretty good. Anyway, we get a young Kiefer Sutherland, the two Coreys, and a nice '80s soundtrack.
Definitely nice to go back and rewatch this movie from when I was younger. This is literally an 80’s time capsule. From the way they dress, to the type of music, and the list goes on. Lol! But it’s definitely a classic for nostalgic purposes!
The best Joel Schumacher movie which isn’t that bold of a statement but also one of the better vampire movies which explains its cult status. A very fun movie that feels very 80’s and also has a great soundtrack.

A group of vampires, who all look like they're performing at the Eurovision Song Contest, causes trouble on a boardwalk while a shirtless Tim Cappello plays the saxophone. In “The Lost Boys," it is clear from the first few minutes that we are at the height of the 80s. You could certainly never accuse director Joel Schumacher of not having a good eye for style. Accordingly, the result is a stylish vampire movie that doesn't really know whether it wants to be a horror or a comedy. The characters mostly seem like caricatures, and the plot never really gets into gear. But at least the cast is largely convincing. Kiefer Sutherland in particular worked very well for me as the leader of the vampire gang, and the two Coreys were certainly a sign of a certain prestige at the end of the 80s (even if I wouldn't necessarily describe Corey Feldman in particular as “good” here). All in all, “The Lost Boys” is an example of “style over substance." Some of the dialog is really ridiculous. But because the style is so compelling and the finale in particular is extra fun, I can still appreciate the whole thing. And as a big Buffy fan, I certainly have to be grateful for this movie, without which the series might never have happened.
**_Several lost boys but, unfortunately, only one lost girl_** After a mother and two sons move from Phoenix to coastal town in Northern California, the older son (Jason Patric) gets involved with a gang led by a sinister guy (Kiefer Sutherland) while the younger son (Corey Haim) hangs out with two geeky vampire hunters (Corey Feldman & Jamison Newlander). Meanwhile the mother (Dianne Wiest) starts dating a shop owner (Edward Herrmann). Jami Gertz in on hand as the sole young female. Released in 1987, "The Lost Boys" is a stylish and hip vampire flick that expertly meshes horror and humor. I usually don't like horror-comedies, but this one works well. The horror is pretty horrifying (in a fun way) while the comedy is consistently amusing. The coastal California locations are superb. However, the excellent train trestle sequence was shot in Alabama (see below). I generally don't like 80's new wave pop rock, but the soundtrack is enjoyable, particularly the creative Lost Boys Theme, "Cry Little Sister" by Gerard Mcmann (with a catchy chorus sung by children). "Lost in the Shadows" by Lou Gramm is good as well. INXS, Roger Daltry and Echo and The Bunnymen also have songs on the soundtrack, the latter group doing a mid-80's version of The Doors' "People Are Strange," which is very close to the original song and actually sounds like its Jim Morrison singing. The sax-playing beefcake sequence features one-hit wonder Tim Cappello playing "I Still Believe." Speaking of beefcake, this zeroes in on my problem with this flick: There are multiple lost boys, but only one lost girl. Although Gertz is good-looking, she's always wearing a long skirt and so we never get a good look at her beyond her face (not talkin' 'bout nudity), with the exception of a campfire sex scene that doesn't work because it's premature and overall lame. Needless to say, a mid-80s horror flick without adequate females is scandalous. Director Joel Schumacher needed to take notes from the six Friday the 13th movies that had been released by the time "The Lost Boys" was shot. Oh, wait, Schumacher is, um, nevermind. While the movie was largely shot in Santa Cruz, California, the vampire cave entrance was 350 miles south at Rancho Palos Verdes whereas the train trestle sequence was shot in Bayou Canot, Mobile, Alabama. The boys were able to jump into the underlying fog because the river was only 12-15 feet below, although the movie gives the impression that they were way higher up. Interior shooting was done in the studio at Burbank. It's short 'n' sweet at 1 hour, 37 minutes. GRADE: B
