My least favorite of the trilogy but yet very good! Very silly and nonsense but it'#39;s absolutely pure fun! The Evil Dead trigoly is one of the best trilogies that I'#39;ve seen. All three are the perfect horror-comedy films. Bruce Campbell is the man!
There is absolutely no continuity in these movies. It'#39;s rather amazing, actually.
A perfect end to a very funny series. All this people thinking they were getting anything but perfect b grade cult movie are idiots. This movie spawned some of the greatest lines in Duke Nukem 3D, and is a perfect way to end the trilogy :D
What I do not get is how this movie get's 88% while it is not even up to par with a C classed movie. I know the movie is from 1992 but the special effects date back from the time of "Jason and the Argonauts". And the story is pretty weak at some points. It's like the writer thought ẅhat shall we do with this bad guy? Wait, let's just let him die for no apparent reason." But then again, what can you expect from "Xena: Warrior Princess" actors?
What did I just watch? It seems to have a story but the poor props and characters make it hard to follow. There is the added bonus of
time travel
, which makes it kind of watchable. The other Evil Dead films are much better!
This one has not aged too well
This one is definitely the craziest of the three.
So weird this movie is set in medieval times. I'#39;ve been looking at this poster for years and years, heard people reference it, and it'#39;s set in medieval times. Who would have thought at the end of the first movie this is where it would end up. Either way, it was a fun movie, had that Evil Dead touch, and the ending is hilarious. Wasn'#39;t until then that I realized S-Mart spells Smart. haha. Now I want to watch the show.
What a fun movie! Pure entertainment! The outdated special effects from the early 90’s also got some laughter out of me and of course Ash’s epic one-liners are to die for.
I liked the scene when he told the skeletons to keep their filthy bones out of his mouth
Incredibly stupid movie, dropped it half way.
This is the weakest among the three no doubt, but it's much, much more fun than the two previous combined. Sam Raimi got his fun out of this film.
I really love how they follow through on the ending of Evil Dead 2 while doing something completely out of left field and changing everything up. The scares take a bit of a backseat but the goofs and fun are cranked up and Ash truly takes his final form.
Undeniably a fun time, I can see why it’s so iconic and why it can be someone’s favorite. But I missed Evil Dead 2’s fusion of horror and camp. You can’t really call this a horror movie. It’s a straight up action comedy fantasy romp, with slight horror elements and only one notable scene of gore. It’s a busier, bigger movie, and Campbell never got a scene to really hold and shine like the laughter scene in the second. Ash is a badass one liner spewing machine. And they’re great, iconic one liners! But there’s so much they start getting a mite exhausting. The Evil Ash ravaging women scene is more obligatory than the tree scene in the first, and worse for how casual and non blasé it is. Apparently it was a producer’s call, but it doesn’t help the movie. It sounds like I’m hard on the movie, and maybe I am a little. But there’s some quality slapstick, some great lines, and it’s fun! Just not quite what I want from this series, I think. Maybe the director’s cut will alleviate some of this.
Was ok but so much weaker than part 2 and 1. The half part was a sure 9 but when the real fight starts it dosen'#39;t look good anymore u see the changes between '#34;Figures'#34; and '#34;Costumes'#34; in the fight :D
Always been my lease favorite of the series by far, but it'#39;s still so damn fun! So many great one-liners. Such a goofy good time!
It'#39;s just a bit of fun. Rated way too high though.
Diablo; instead of the Dark Wanderer, we got Ash and his axe.
Well, it'#39;s the only part of the trilogy that looks like a film. Two previous are terrible, when I was watching them I had a strong feeling that it had been made by some crasy school boys and recorded on the phone. There is no plot and you can easily fit all the story in 15 minutes video. However, Army of Darkness features better story, though it'#39;s still utterly ridiculous but very funny. '#39;Groovy!'#39;
What a great way to end the trilogy. This one is the silliest of the bunch but an absolute blast from start to finish. It has very different kind of absurdity. It leans more towards fantasy comedy with some horror but still manages to stay in the spirit of previous Evil Dead films maintaining that ridiculously over the top energy and injecting more comedy and ass-kicking into it. Bruce Campbell really shines and it looks like he'#39;s having so much fun in this one. He'#39;s back giving all his slapstick acting with his hilarious expressions and his golden words. As usual, the practical effects are top notch and the fighting sequences are really sick. Not as violent as previous two but it'#39;s so fun it sticks with you. And god, that ending! They don'#39;t make fun trilogy like this anymore.
Tries too hard to be funny. The '#34;comedic sequences'#34; last for too long.

4/10 And that's being generous because of my unending love for number 1 and of course Bruce. That being said this is a load of Garbage and never ever will be a perfect way to end this trilogy. This is absolutely and completely ruined and made a mockery of everything that's come before and nobody in their right mind would ever think this everrrrr belongs anywhere near the Evil Dead franchise. This was entertaining WHEN I WAS 14yrs old Bur even than I said this just doesn't fit with what's come before. It's like trying to push a square block through a circle hole, it's never going to fit. This joke of a movie that's not even funny should have never been made (by a 6yr old it would seem) and I am so glad that the Evil Dead 4 never came to pass and the script is sat on a shelf somewhere never ever to see the light of day, because how shit Army of Darkness is I would dread to think what kind of Abomination TED4 would be. X FINAL THOUGHT: This is stupid and silly and nit in a good way, no gore, No nudity, no bad language, no horror and bull-crap production and the fx have gone back to the 1960s. This is a complete spit in the face to anybody that respects and Loves 1 and 2 and the horror genre. What a boring waste of time, what the Hella went wrong, I know it's been snowflaked and neutered, Completely castrated. What a shame that this once to of the list of being one of the leading movies of Horror has come down to this naddy panddy pile of poo. The Army of Darkness is not part of the evil dead the true number 3 is the 2013 Evil Dead remake/retelling, that movie is frickin awesome and really it should just be The Evil Dead uncut/unrated The Evil Dead ucut extended cut 2013 in the franchise anything else is just 2 fingers to the true and pure fans of horror.
My name is Ash and I am a slave. Close as I can figure, the year is thirteen hundred A.D and I'm being dragged to my death. Army of Darkness is directed by Sam Raimi and Raimi co-writes the screenplay with his brother Ivan. It stars Bruce Campbell, Embeth Davidtz, Marcus Gilbert, Ian Abercrombie, Richard Grove and Timothy Patrick Quill. Music is by Joseph LoDuca and cinematography by Bill Pope. Ash (Campbell) is transported to 1300 A.D., where he must battle an army of the dead and retrieve the Necronomicon so he can return home. Unofficially it's Evil Dead III, but as the fans will atest, this is a very different animal to the two films that preceeded it. Blending high energy jinks in medieval times with comedy horror staples, it's a riotous idea that mostly works. Of course one has to accept it on its riotous terms, this for sure isn't a pic for the highbrow crowd. Though it should at least be given the chance to brighten a dark day. Campell as Ash is put through the mangler once again, with some nifty physical comedy nestling nicely with that of Ash's anachronistic verbalities. It's all breakneck stuff that's performed with a wonderfully self mocking attitude that's easy to warm to. It's a comic book brought to life and it never sags, but some of the cartoon sequence beasties sadly do look a little flat. Great fun if prepared for what type of pic it is, it's not hard to see why it is so beloved in Evil Dead fan circles. 7/10 Footnote: There are alterante ending versions, of which I have only seen the downbeat time potion one - but being the miserable sod that I am, I love this ending.
"Ash" (Bruce Campbell) is a bit of a loud-mouth hardware salesman who somehow manages to get himself, and his car, transported back seven hundred years and into a mediaeval combat zone! "Lord Arthur" (Marcus Gilbert) is his new master and together with his fellow prisoner "Duke Henry the Red" (Richard Grove) is soon facing doom at the bottom of a deadly pit! Luckily, he has a few useful things in the boot of his car, and the timely use of a chainsaw helps him escape and become the designated saviour who will retrieve the "Necronomicon". His quest will involve a treacherous journey through the land of the "Deadites" in search of a sacred book. Only the immortal words of Michael Rennie himself: "Klaatu Barada Nikto" can save the day... Well, needless to say, none of this grand plan actually works. He forgets half of his magic phrase and only succeeds in resurrecting a somewhat narked army of dead folks who are determined to lay siege to their castle and retrieve the book for themselves. Enemies soon become friends, arrows become strapped to dynamite, trebuchets start lobbing high explosives and all are now hoping to defeat, well, the already dead! This actually benefits hugely from not having a star. The whole ensemble cast join in to create a quickly paced, "Camelot" style action adventure that borrows heavily from twentieth century references (I'm sure the script has a bit of Jack Hawkins from "Ben Hur" here too) and Ian Abercrombie does a fine job as the wiseman. There's plenty of pyrotechnics and swordplay, a generous amount of rather daft humour and, for my money, is one of Sam Raimi's better, more entertaining features. Derivative? Yes - it is, but that doesn't stop it being an enjoyable romp through history and legend that is well worth an afternoon in front of the telly.
Army of Darkness is such a mix bag for me, on one hand it is a very fun and whimsical fantasy adventure but on the other it is such a step away from the franchise that it feels out of place. It is marketed as a horror film, but there is absolutely zero tension or spooks to be had in its entire runtime, luckily the movie was actually quite funny. Raimi tried to do a bit too much in the special effects department, leaving many of the effects feel cheap and out of place. The green screen technology especially just was not there for the time. Raimi's direction was very relevant, and his signature touch on the film really helped. The performances and writing absolutely save the film. Bruce Campbell is the best he's ever been, with incredible line delivery that had be legitimately laughing out loud. The quick witty dialogue between characters was hilarious. Overall, Army of Darkness is by no means a bad movie, but it does take a step a little too far from the source material, which just didn't resonate with me as much. Score: 67% 👍 Verdict: Good
