Overview

Long ago, all humans lived beneath the sea. However, some people preferred the surface and abandoned living underwater permanently. As a consequence, they were stripped of their god-given protection called "Ena" which allowed them to breathe underwater. Over time, the rift between the denizens of the sea and of the surface widened, although contact between the two peoples still existed. This show follows the story of Hikari Sakishima and Manaka Mukaido, along with their childhood friends Chisaki Hiradaira and Kaname Isaki, who are forced to leave the sea and attend a school on the surface. There, the group also meets Tsumugu Kihara, a fellow student and fisherman who loves the sea. Hikari and his friends' lives are bound to change as they have to deal with the deep-seated hatred and discrimination between the people of sea and of the surface, the storms in their personal lives, as well as an impending tempest which may spell doom for all who dwell on the surface.

Love is dangerous, Love kills Friendship, Love destroys the World. Don'#39;t be like Love.

This was an impressive story with an outstanding animation. They did went a little overboard with the fantasy stuff and how humans can hibernate... But the plot was both heart-warming and thrilling which kept the entire thing in balance.

At the beginning is a very simple anime, but slowly it becomes a great masterpiece. From this anime I'#39;ve understood that everything in life changes despite bad or good things that happened to us.

I watched the first episode mostly disliking the show. The art was really bubbly and shiny and one of the center girls, Manaka, was an annoying, whiny klutz. To my surprise it actually got alot better. The characters get developed and some interesting dynamics get added to the story. Not only that, the visuals they kept consistently very high quality made it easily the prettiest show of the recent year I'#39;d say. Now don'#39;t get me wrong, despite this being a world where there are people living both under water and on land, thus sporting a other-worldly element, this isn'#39;t exactly it'#39;s center point. It mostly serves as a backdrop to a complicated love pentagon between the main cast of kids with plenty of melo-drama and tears (which the story around them just pushes further). If you'#39;re into romance give the show a go but don'#39;t expect the biggest mystery out of the legend of the sea god here. By the looks of it the next show of P.A. Works will be pretty much this again so let'#39;s hope they manage to top this.

Una serie muy nostálgica, para aquellos que gustan del amor trágico.
