Despite being produced by Studio BONES "Dragon Pilot" seems to have had little hype behind it. This is also the reason why I'd feel bad not commenting about it here. Not only does the show have a colorful design a bit different from others but also manages to deliver a fantasy/comedy hybrid with very few clichés attached to it. My worries that this would be some furry pandering show were for nothing ,).

A show about a bunch of certified weird girls and their very cool giant magical lizards who teach them that self-improvement is self-love. Looks great, too, with a more cartoonish yet down-home look I really enjoyed. Seriously underrated, but the Netflix subtitles are unusually hard to parse in terms of phrasing and I’d suggest you only bother watching it with fansubs. And if you’re just here for the dragons: They make whale noises! And eat cell phones! And swallow and regurgitate their pilots repeatedly in a way that is both pretty gross and kind-of sweet! And eventually they follow that most ancient aspect of dragonlore: [spoiler]demanding virgin sacrifices!![/spoiler] I’m a big fan.
