Slow burning, but very effective found footage movie. You don'#39;t see much of anything, but it'#39;s got some genuinely intense scares. Great sound design.

It definitely has a slow start, but once you are in the last half of the film, it definitely has so good suspenseful moments.

The tent scene in the middle of the night was what truly sold this movie for me. It took me right back to my childhood, when I experienced a similar moment with my friends. That scene gave me chills. Just sitting there, staring into the darkness, straining to hear every little sound, dreading the next noise you hoped would never come. The ending was a bit silly, though. But sometimes, all it takes is one powerful scene to leave a lasting impact on a film.

The unfortunate thing about "Willow Creek" is that the two main characters are instantly likable and the chemistry between them seems very real. I knew they were going to run acrosss something in the woods of the Pacific Northwest, because that's what the movie is about, but I almost hoped that they wouldn't. When they do, it's so underwhelming and frankly, baffling, that I was mad that the enjoyable characters suffered their fate at the hands of something so lame. If you want to get your "Bigfoot" fix, see "Exists" instead.

an absolute waste of time

In my opinion, the movie starts okay and feels somewhat genuine. It pretty much goes nowhere though and it'#39;s way too generic. The tent scene had me almost sleeping too.

It has a fair bit of tense in one scene I thought, but it'#39;s not enough (for me) to recommend it overall.

Watched this and heard it was such a good movie but I feel like I mostly wasted my time with it. I'#39;m not looking for jump scares but at the same time the ambience and staring at people in a tent for about thirty minutes of a movie didn'#39;t really do it for me or hold my attention. The end was pretty interesting, at least.

Im a huge fan of found footage sub genre and i see so many '#34;average'#34; and great movies ( inside the genre standards ) being bashed by critic and this one gets 62 in Metacritic? : o

“Off the To-Watch Pile for my 31 Days Of Horror. Fingers crossed, I feel like I'#39;ve heard good things from the usual people...”

So most of the older review for this were glowing with praise but I honestly can'#39;t see it. Many films have been called Blair Witch rip-offs but they at least differ in structure, this one not so much. There is only one decent scene but it can easily be rendered ineffective when you think about some guy walking around as Bigfoot making fake noises. The final nail in the coffin was the twist at the end which is just beyond stupid. Eduardo Sánchez has a Bigfoot movie coming up as well and I'#39;m almost certain it will beat this one with ease.

Spoilers

awww men, it could have been a great movie! but something is missing.... first of all i really liked the movie. its a classic found footage movie with simple tactics to scare the shit out of you. i mean the tent scene was forking intense. has been a long time since i got goosebumbs and couldnt close my eyes for such a long time. but after that the movie kinda falls, the ending is way to fast and short and i really wished there would have been something more.
at least show me bigfoot and what he does with the people or whats up with the old lady? just add 10 minutes of really fucked up shit and i would inhale this movie.
but its definitely still something worth of watching!

As far as found footage films go, this is one that exists. The first two-thirds of the film certainly can't be called much of a horror film. It honestly could be some sort of indie drama focused on a quirky road trip and an all-too-real relationship. Frankly, I thought it was more than a tad boring. The last third is where the 'magic' happens. Well, it's supposed to. There's a good chunk, which holds the majority of the scares of the movie, where the sound is all whispers intermixed with a handful of screams. This was my least favorite part of the film. Where I think the film is strongest is the very final scene. It doesn't do anything particularly frightening; we don't even see the main focus of the movie. No, the movie introduces a bit of lore, a bit of incredibly interesting information which is barely a callback. Regardless, the resulting Google searches after the movie was over were almost, if not more, interesting than the movie itself. While so far, this has seemed like a rather damning review, it really isn't nearly as bad as it seems. Sure, the film falls into the same traps so many found footage films do, in that it's boring until the climax and the action afterward just doesn't make up for the first two thirds, but it's also not nearly as bad as some of the found footage movies I've seen. It's also not campy in the slightest. It's all rather just mediocre.
