A bit like in the director's other The Gospel according to Matthew, if you read any reviews of this film you already know most if not all of it. Compared to the other however, Pasolini perhaps put a bit more of his political stance in it, with some sporadic interesting image shown throughout the film. A real pity he decided not to use the background story.

Fascism is much closer to medievalism than one would think. In some ways, more painful than Salò.
