I forgot how much i liked this movie. Though the book isn'#39;t as popular with the masses, its one of my favorite stories by King. This adaptation was pretty well done all things considered.

Stephen King and George Romero - it's hard to get bigger than these guys in their respective roles. And yet, it's another less than perfect King story bought to the movies, and in this case in 2 hours (at least it wasn't a mini-series) As with many Stephen King adaptations, I recommend sticking with the book

Writer struggles with his pathetic character.

One of King'#39;s lesser works is fittingly represented here by one of the lesser film adaptations of his novels. This is hardly surprising as he hasn'#39;t always been well represented on screen. The film'#39;s okay but it does drag on, and despite some neat directorial flourishes by Romero, this will never reach the higher echelons of King on film, namely Salem'#39;s Lot, IT, and reportedly, the new adaptation of Pet Sematary.

Writer fights his brought to life evil character, set in the standard Stephen King Castle Rock, Maine setting. It'#39;s a pretty weak story with some haphazard scenes. Not the worst SK adaptation, George Romero puts a nice touch on scenes, but overall it just feels mediocre all the way through. Could'#39;ve easily been 30mins shorter.

Writer fights his pathetic character.

Fairly entertaining horror thriller about a horror author'#39;s pseudonym takes on a murderous life of his own. It'#39;s a solid effort by Romero but it feels way too long and slow. The storyline is promising but it just comes off as mediocre to me. It starts out pretty strong but everything that follows is lackluster. The finale gives very little actual explanation and is tonally off from the rest of the film. I don'#39;t think Timothy Hutton is the best choice for his character. I'#39;m sure he did his best but he'#39;s a bit bland even with all that makeup. That said, I still had fun watching it as it has enough thrills, nice gore, cool imagery, campy effects, and this film is basically a goofy slasher.

A visually spectacular ending, but one that delivers little in the way of answers, and doesn't change a so-so beginning and middle of a film in any way that's meaningfully satisfactory. _Final rating:★★½ - Had a lot that appealed to me, didn’t quite work as a whole._
