Far from Hollywood political correctness mix of Underworld, Resident Evil and Mad Max... not as bad as for English production :)

Pretty decent action movie with an okay plot. Nothing spectacular, but it's not bad. Just one question: Why do the people inside act like they're starving? There's a bunch of cows roaming around near the wall. At this point, they don't need to resort to cannibalism anymore.

The only movie where an 80s car police (a Rover) is faster than a Bentley....

During the first 30 minutes it seems to be a good movie, good action scenes, but I did not like from the middle till the end, they tried to copy Mad Max, not only the ideas of Mad Max but also the characters.

I remember seeing this in a quarter full cinema when it was released. There was much laughter and reaction. Back then, we laughed at the film - its story is novel, its script is simple, it's acting isn't great. And the reactions were mostly in disgust at the gratuitous violence. I personally quite enjoyed it despite all of that. Maybe Rhona Mitra had me seduced... Looking back at it now during the 'rona pandemic... and having watched it once more in the years between... I think it's improved with age. The TV show 'Survivors' by the BBC shares a lot with the feel of this film. Well, the first bit before it goes Robin Hood or is it the bit earlier before it goes 28 Days Later. Anyway, it is enjoyably ridiculous and one of the better films to watch about pandemics to take the sting out of our reality. 7.5/10

It's been a while since I've seen a movie like that in a video store. An apocalyptic Scotland is half medieval half Mad Max. On the other hand, the Bentley car is a motherfucker.

**Part of my 2022 Sci-Fi Tuesdays** This sure is something. You take some from the classic 80s movies like Escape from New York and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, mix it up with the likes of the early 2000s 28 Days later, then take a small sip of The Warriors and Army of Darkness, and you get Neil Marshall's little movie, Doomsday. ...and what a treat it is. If the recipe above didn't turn you onto Doomsday, nothing will. My advice, do yourself a favor and watch it.

Absolutely ridiculous but absolutely brilliant.

Absolutely awful, embarrassed to say I watched it. Good cast etc, but it’s beyond reticule

Awful dialogs. A plot which makes no sense at all. Terrible, terrible acting. A naked woman. And lots of violence (just carnage and shootings, no action scenes). That's the first 6 minutes of the movie... and all I was able to endure. Which is 5 minutes more than it deserved, anyway... :persevere:

I thought I was watching this Doomsday movie, when I actually was watching "2012: doomsday", also from 2008. Oh my Lord that other one is crap. So far I still havent seen this one....

Basically a mash-up of 28 Days Later, Mad Max, generic medieval film and Michael Bay rolled into one (not to mention The Warriors and Escape from New York). A bit all over the place but I generally enjoyed the insanity of it all and liked Rhona Mitra as the lead, too bad her career really didn't take off, though I suppose opportunities for action roles for women was limited. **3.5/5**
