It'#39;s not aged as well as some comedies from the era (like Stripes and Ghostbusters) but Bill Murray and Chevy Chase are still worth watching.
A really funny movie with a great cast, not really a must see but not something you'#39;ll regret watching either.
[4.5/10] I went into _Caddyshack_ knowing very little about it. I kind of expected to like it more than I did. I thought the concept was fun. I have extremely limited knowledge about golf, but I know it can make for a good story sometimes. My favorite thing about the film was how much it felt of its time. I enjoyed the little glimpse into the early ‘80s. But a lot of the comedy just wasn’t for me. Still, I’m glad I can say I watched it. And that I never have to again. (Except maybe for the little gopher—he was adorable, hehe!)
A very special golf course.
A comedy classic. Loud, stupid and over the top. With an epic comedy cast. A must-see for all movie lovers
Not very good, did not age well at all wtf...
In my mind there are only 3 old comedies that still hold up today: The Jerk, Blazing Saddles, and Caddyshack. The three don'#39;t always hit on their jokes but there'#39;s brilliance in each that'#39;s timeless. Dangerfield'#39;s line '#34;Does this hat come with a bowl of soup?'#34; makes me laugh each time I hear it, along with Doug Kenney'#39;s writing, which stands out among the rest. Dangerfield'#39;s character is so close to a lame eye roll but he'#39;s such an obvious dork that he nails it, and is probably the only guy in that era who could'#39;ve nailed it as well as he did. Chevy Chase playing an overeducated prick is exactly what you pay a casting director for.
Harmless fun from the very early 1980'#39;s, wheelhouse of the teen sex comedy. Rodney Dangerfield and Chevy Chase are in the zone throughout, milking their most famous traits for all they'#39;re worth, while Bill Murray is largely wasted as the brain-dead burnout on the trail of a muppet gopher. A few iconic scenes from this one still linger in the public lexicon, like the wrapper-free Baby Ruth floating in the swimming pool or Chase'#39;s zen tee-box mantra of '#34;nanananana.'#34; Close examination of the plot reveals dozens of holes, an almost complete lack of risk to the main players and a misplaced focus... but that'#39;s not really the point. A joyously carefree approach to filmmaking, it was quite clearly a non-stop party that just so happened to commit 98 minutes of semi-coherent story to film. Some punchlines may have lost their edge over time, but those that haven'#39;t are surefire winners; enough to make up for the very dated general atmosphere.
Worth the watch just for the cast
It has to be over fifteen years since the last time I saw this, and I remember it as stitch-in-the-side funny. It isn'#39;t... Not anymore... Don'#39;t get me wrong. Caddyshack still makes you laugh at times, but som of the humor is apparently lost between your early 20s and your late 30s. Despite this, it'#39;s still a classic and still recommended viewing. Even though Rodney Dangerfield is quite a lot more obnoxious in this than any man should have the right to be...
Level '#34;Entertaining'#34; • 6  • You may or may not enjoy this.
Not for me, despite loving Chevy Chase.
Nearly a perfect comedy. Talented cast spotlights Ted Knight and Rodney Dangerfield than any other property. Chase and Murray have some great work here, as well, but the elder talent steal every scene they are in for me. A truly historic comedy when this country was brimming with improv and stand up comedians everywhere. Even in that competitive environment, this rises to the top.
