Best movie of blues ever!

Very flawed yet a beautiful film. There'#39;re problems with pacing, and with the script. Honestly, who cares about Frances? I don'#39;t like the romance bits. A lot of wasted potential/time there. Some dialogs feel cheesy. But other than that, I love almost everything about this film. I'#39;m glad they'#39;ve put an effort on the playing. Every time I see someone play an instrument on screen, it'#39;s all fake and makes me cringe. But it seems natural in Crossroads alongside with what you'#39;re hearing too. (I think I'#39;ve read somewhere that Steve Vai did all the guitar recording.) And of course like everybody else,
I'#39;m a sucker for that guitar battle at the ending
. It'#39;s a classic. So to conclude: If you'#39;re somewhat interested in music, I'#39;m sure you'#39;ll enjoy it. If not, you may be a little bit disappointed. But in my book it'#39;s certainly worth a watch.

It's a guitar-playing Karate Kid.

Cool movie, if you like blues you should consider watching it. Good enough for a movie night, but too much wasted potential in my book. At the start I was expecting a coming of age movie and it kind of delivered. It collapses on itself towards the second half. And the ending? It negates all what came before it. Doesn'#39;t really make sense to me. Still, I'#39;d watch it again sometime. Would definitely enjoy the hell out of it in the unlikely situation someone somewhere decided to remake the whole thing with a young actor who can actually play the blues.

Nice, but the final battle makes this film memorable. Incredible scene with the unique and original Steve Vai. 6/10

Yeah, who doesn't love Robert Johnson, right? OK, well that's not true, I have friends that are Beatles fans... and the thing about them is that they are pure, unadulterated, pop. And the Stones play the blues. Cream plays the blues, Grand Funk, CCR, even Pearl Jam from time to time. The people that don't like Robert Johnson are pure pop fans. Everyone else listens to the blues. That is what this is, it's a love letter to the blues via the Robert Johnson crossroads legend, the traveling hobo bluesmen of the 1930s, it's a thank you to people like WC Handy and everyone that goes down to Memphis and works their way south just to see where it all started. But, for the pure pop fans, it's just the Karate Kid with a guitar and the kindly instructor with a harmonica. If you're into that kind of thing, it's a movie you'll appreciate, you'll probably even like. But if you're a pure pop guy... it's probably not your thing, but watch it anyways, because you wouldn't even have pop without what this is paying tribute to.
