This is an notable PPV event for several reasons leading up to the event:

1.) First event after McMahon retired
2.) It’s the first PPV back in the ‘TV-14’ WWE
3.) The build up to most matches was lackluster and/or repetitive
4.) The main event really shouldn’t have been a match…again.
5.) Seth Rollins match is scrapped and has no opponent…again.

For all things noted above, I was worried. I was skeptical how it would go over. Turns out, most concerns were real (in some degree), but the ‘good’ things of note were _really_ good.

Firstly: McMahon retiring and back to TV-14 is subtle stuff that the casual viewer won’t even notice, but it makes a better experience. Matches longer, more violent, better character writing opportunities.

Secondly: The build up to matches :asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:was:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol: bad. Every match was predictable. The rivalries didn’t all feel impactful. The challengers were basically all out of place, and the only belt really up for grabs were the two woman’s titles. Becky could have won, and Rhonda SHOULD win, but they needed to find a way to keep Liv in the spotlight. Despite predictability, it felt right. Almost like HHH inherited these storylines and had to go with it, but made the most out of where they are going.

Thirdly: The main event was incredible. It’s easily one of the most memorable matches I’ve seen in a long time. AEW has had great PPV matches, this may have topped any match in a memorability factor. Roman vs Brock shouldn’t have happened, but THIS is how you make the most of it and go out with a bang. 5 :star: match that wrestling fans should all check out.

Finally: My biggest disappointment of the night was whatever the hell happened with Seth Rollins. I really hoped they had a secret up their sleeves and The Fiend was making his appearance. Oh well, he’s going to appear sooner or later…somewhere.

All in all, this is one of the best WWE PPVs we have gotten in awhile. No it’s not the heights of AEW. No there wasn’t surprising winners or big title changes. But it was a progressive step with one hell of a main event and a bunch of good matches throughout.
