As interesting as this looks, I made it through the first act of the first episode and then stopped to think about what about this is actually attracting my interest. Despite all the excellent actors voicing the dolls and regardless of whether or not there's an actual story to care about, the entire hook of this production is to see the way they manipulated the dolls and how they created substitutive illusions to replace natural, real-world affectations. For example, it is very interesting and creative the way they replaced exhaust smoke with bits of long cotton strands, but am I interested in watching this whole thing just to see that stuff?
Finally, I realized that without SEEING those actors' faces and WATCHING them act, there's no point in listening to their voices in the telling of this story and I'm not confident enough after the first act to say there's enough of a plot to keep coming back for, my only motivation is to see how the dolls have been manipulated to make them appear to be moving. The doll's faces will never show thoughts nor will they ever be able to visually portray any emotion. They might as well have used nobodies with good voices than to only use good actors' voices to try to bait people into watching dolls.
