They've done the homework and this show is starting really good. Tiny (and less) details scattered and alluding to what's to come, for those who already read the books. Smooth cuts from present to past, and I like how they intertwined infinitesimally small and infinitely large scales, showing once more they got the point.

I just watched this out of curiosity since the Netflix series was announced. Many comments that compared the two have characterized the Chinese version as more faithful, but slow and boring, yet insightful in terms of science. While I haven't yet seen the western adaptation, I do agree with the reviews that I've read previously, this adaptation it extremely slow and boring. The flashbacks are sudden and disjointed, and this 30 episode show really drags on needlessly. Even though I have a keen interest in science fiction and storytelling, this tested my patience and was left unrewarded. It remains to be seen if the Western adaptation is any better, but given the reviews so far I am inclined to believe the opposite; the western adaptation will probably be shallow, superficial and immediate (PS: proven right, Western NF adaption is ten times worse) - but that falls out of the scope of this review. TLDR: Nothing impressive, extremely slow and mostly boring. Some scientific and historical background is welcome, but hardly compensates for the pacing. All in all, this is extremely forgettable, nothing stands out as original unless you consider boredom as such.
