Part 76 of watching all the tv shows releasing in 2023 (an impossible task but I try my best)

Dolores Roach fell incredibly short for me and here is why.

The Horrors of Dolores Roach is a series focused around our main psycho serial killer Dolores Roach as she goes on a killing spree in her old friend and kind of lover Louis' basement, while he takes those bodies and feeds them to his costumers in empanada form, but it is a comedy! First, and foremost the quality of this show along with its cast are very solid and prevent this show from being a complete flop and the runtime along with the dialogue made a show this gory and creepy somehow easy to binge so I will give it its credit for those aspects. But the story is so incoherent, the whole premise of her telling the story goes absolutely nowhere and has no real effect on the plot, the horror comedy aspect fails as there is no way to make me laugh at someone chopping up humans and eating them, Barry walks the line of a serial killer comedy perfectly but this show just goes too far. Another glaring problem is that I feel like the story expects me to cheer for Dolores and feel bad for her with lines like, "I was waiting for someone to stop me", maybe just don't kill 7 people in a month I feel like others shouldn't have to talk you out of that you maniac. When we have shows in 2023 like Love and Death that succeed much better at this aspect of putting us in the perspective of a murderer there is no room for this show to standout at all. The Finale had a chance to return to reality and wrap this story up in a sort of coherent way but it just dives deeper into this crazy narrative that I should be feeling bad for this women which made the episode the clear worst. I didn't always feel this strongly as I thought the premiere episode was the best and fairly intriguing and a good start. And Overall the show was well made and acted but the flawed concept and story as well as inability to be aware of their audience causes The Horrors of Dolores Roach to fall short.
