Really great show ahead of its time. Nowadays we're used to seeing lead young LGBT protagonists and couples but in 2005, South of Nowhere, on a channel apart of Nickelodeon at that, did [spoiler] by having a lesbian teenage protagonist and her bisexual love interest front and center, at a time where MA was the only state to legalize gay marriage and at that only one year before the show aired.[/spoiler] Not to mention that they called out and condemned conversion therapy at a time when it wasn't illegal in any state. Besides that, this show did a great job at redeeming and developing either the more supportive and liberal characters or the more bigoted and conservative characters. The episodes that touched on issues such as racism, drug abuse, the cost of fame, homelessness, and much more were also really good. and I recommend this show greatly for anyone questioning their sexuality.
