I wasn't a reader of the book, but knowing the author behind the story also wrote Gone Girl gave me some idea of what to expect. I made a point to avoid any online speculation/spoilers and wanted to let myself enjoy any potential surprises.

After 3-4 episodes, I considered quitting on the show. While it was beautifully shot, acted, and directed there just wasn't much at all happening in most of the episodes, and the show had minimally engaged me. I only kept going based on the idea that because of the HBO + Amy Adams + director combo there had to be more to this show and I wanted to know what it was.

Well, the boredom continued for a few more episodes, but I made it to the end. The last two episodes made the entire wait worth it. The boring early episodes started to have more meaning in the context of the conclusion, and I was left riveted by the conclusion of this show more than I had been by any other show in recent memory.
