Formulaic AF, but still worked for me (at the time). And, what I mean by formulaic is the, "wrap-up," so, during the final minutes of each episode the Lead (Mr Goldblum in this case) gets heated as they explain the resolution of the case. Jack Klugman used to do it during the last season or so of his, "Quincy, M.E." show. Although in Quincy's case it was raging about specific issues; not limited to proving guilt. It took me years and years to understand and take exception to the formula of having to present a mystery and prove someone's guilty by the end of forty minutes. At least it's Jeff Goldblum that gets to deliver that impassioned speech, if a bit hastily.

~ Not at all like real life, where, say, a corporation gets their trial for poisoning whole swaths of a population in So America moved to that country believing they'd be able to better sway the outcome only to **finally** be proven guilty, then call foul & renege on the judgement of the court and be able to hire a private judge in the United States to trump up contempt charges and throw the attorney who won the case for the South American indigenous villagers in jail and ruin his career [cough, cough, Chevron].

But, that _is why_ our media throws shade on poor individuals... it's to provide cover for the wealthy & their publicly funded alter-egos (a.k.a. corporations).
