A giant Buddha statue is unearthed in a small rural town. The mayor believes that it will change the town into a major tourist attraction. However, a catastrophe starts to grow. A centuries-old curse is unleashed from the statue, and it starts to eat up people's souls and make them non-human. Jung Ki-hoon, as archaeologist tries to seek the truth behind the paranormal phenomenon.

[Canneseries '23] Sang-ho Yeon's script fails with a plot that sometimes gets too tangled and horror scenes that do not provoke much terror, even bordering on the ridiculous. The series has a high content of family drama and personal relationships that try to give consistency to the inconsistent genre plot, and that at times uses the usual tropes of the zombie subgenre, especially when the possessed wreak havoc on the city, with good results. bloody moments. Although it manages to create a disturbing and dark atmosphere, it ends up being very disappointing.

I wasn’t gonna watch it because I’m was seeing so many bad reviews but I did see a few good reviews sprinkled in so I decided to watch and judge for myself. I didn’t think it was as bad as everyone is making it out to be. The actors were good and just like every story there’s a few frustrations but the level of hate I see being directed towards the show seems a bit much. Yeah, it’s short and there are areas where it could be reviewed but it also had quite a few good moments, even with the basic storyline. Eh. I thought it was alright but to each their own. My suggestion is, watch it for yourself and decide on your own accord. It’s only 6 30min episodes so it’s quite easy to watch. :)
