One of the best plots ever written
Lejos una de las mejores series de anime que he visto.
Too much time to not tell anything at all... **Slow and empty.** Overrated show mostly because of teenagers searching for something more dark and mature in anime. But honestly, it fails gracefully trying to reach.
I'#39;m still waiting for this to get picked up by some american television network. Come on HBO or Netflix.
Wasted my time watching this trash.
Masterpiece!!
Who tf put a negative towards this show for having a “underdeveloped main antagonist” are y’all brain dead? He is literally one of the best anime villains of all time for a reason
It’s beautifully animated and the meat of the story is very good, but it’s heavily compacted with far too many side-plots and far too many secondary and tertiary characters that do little to nothing to advance the main plot, but definitely frustrate the viewer. Character developments (or lack thereof) are largely simply pathetic. And after enduring all of that, the ending is so underwhelming that I was almost left speechless. The best way to summarise ‘Monster’ is that it’s very full of itself.
I enjoyed many characters in the series, including Tenma, his ex-wife Eva, Dieter, Grimmer, Inspector Lunge, and even minor characters like Martin (Eva's bodyguard). However, the show's slow pacing was hard to ignore. What bothered me even more was Johan's (the main antagonist) backstory, I found it to be nonsensical. Why do those stupid children's books hold such importance? How did Johan become the person he is, and what is his goal? How did he orchestrate the 511 orphanage massacre? How does he manage to manipulate everyone, including influential individuals, to carry out his plans? He hardly made any screen time, and when he did, there was nothing convincing about him apart from his good looks and calm presence. Definitely overrated.
I want Tenma as my family doctor
Johan the best character in the show has like 10 scenes of screen time wtf. I liked that the side characters were fleshed out but it was at the expense of the main characters. The show was over stretched and over stuffed and nothing tied back to any real plot. It was all meaningless with no real objective.
So, I have mixed thoughts about this show, Like i really liked it but in same time i felt that there were a lot of useless episodes, I know it's from the manga but for real there were a lot of stuff could get attention rather than other things, As Wolfgang Grimmer I really liked him and wanted to know more about him, so idk maybe bc It's finished series long time ago so i felt that off? ( i mean not weekly episodes ) but anyway still great anime, And different one
Level '#34;Interesting'#34; • 7  • Entertaining and Good.
Well, this was a waste of precious time. While the animation, music, setting are good, the writing is very poor. This show is overrated, slow-paced beyond belief, stuffed and stretched wide for no other reason than to look brightly complex; 2/3 of the show don'#39;t really tie to anything, don'#39;t develop neither story nor characters. The dark and mature tone doesn'#39;t make up for the bad writing which leaves a bad aftertaste. The Monster definitely left an impression: unimpressive.
Saw this one coming back in my all-time stats. One of the few tens I'#39;ve ever given to a show. This is absolutely one of the best things ever made. In the hands of the right directors this could even be made into one of the best real action shows ever. But it should probably keep it'#39;s legacy in the anime realm :) .
The plot of this series is phenomenal. The author is extremely talented writing this series, I can feel. It'#39;s just that the episodes here are quite long, but maybe that'#39;s the part of the storytelling.
At first I thought the protagonist was a monster, but apparently the story is the scary
Great anime to watch. Great story, very dark, sometimes it'#39;s a bit slow, that'#39;s my main issue with it. Even if you'#39;re not into anime you can watch this easily.
The Magnificent Steiner :muscle: :fire:
A slow drug. Manga is even better

What a waste of time lmao. I honestly like it at the beginning, but then it introduces the cheap cliffhangers to keep you watching only to find out that it's a complete waste of your time. It continuously shows the same old repeated "flashback" bits, Nina keeps on telling that she saw some horrific shit every time (in reality it's nothing but bs), you never see Johan do anything in action, tbh we don't even see him killing anyone lmao, and here we have Tenma and Nina be like "I'm the one who's gonna kill and put an end to all of this" bullshit but after when Johan reveals himself they second guess every time and tell each other "You mustn't do this!" bullshit and not killing him, TWICE, Johan's endgame plan is so flawed, that it doesn't even makes sense, just a killer on loose who is spared at the end. Funny thing is even in the last 10 episodes, the anime tries to build up some useless plot in some random nameless town and characters that are pretty much forgettable and the other killers look up to Johan and say "He is the real one, monster , monster, monster" and yet we never see Johan in the action, pretty much like how he isn't known in the world. I don't really know how people like this one, only watched till the end because I thought the final "revelation" would explain everything, oh boi was I wrong.

I happened to discover this spectacular series as a recommendation from the forums of http://myanimelist.net/. I was searching some anime with psychological tweaks, as I was impressed by what Death Note had to offer. And that brought me to this title. Conventionally, before I start with any anime, I always like to check the first episode; whether that casts some major effect upon me or not. In this case, I was remarkably astonished at its potential. The very first episode is enough in itself to hook anyone with a knack for mind-games and it goes without saying that it’s not an overstatement. It’s not uncommon that some anime tends to start magnificently but fails to keep up the level and eventually transforms into a mass of disappointment. However, with Monster, I can assure that is not the case. Although, it is troublesome to understand certain turn of events (especially the end to me), it continues to rise up until the penultimate episode, reaching the climax at it, and then it concludes in the 74th chapter as an epilogue. The vastness of the series allowed the story to be more elaborate, and it necessarily involves larger number of characters than a 12-episode or a 24-episode anime. Nearly each episode introduces a new character more or less, and depicts his/her emotions, behaviours, thought processes quite neatly in a manner that seems to grow upon oneself. Still, it does not feel overcrowded at any moment. Each individual has parts to play to make the story progress. Again, no character is purely white, nor is it absolute dark. Each one has its own individual tone colour. There'll be certain times when one would definitely wonder as to how could we be certain about the moral stability of any person we know? Among the other notable aspects of Monster, dialogues are concise, background scores are fantastic, and animation is marvellous. I didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the manga beforehand. Therefore, I can't compare the two, but what I learned from others is that, this anime follows the manga precisely page by page. Then again, that's hearsay evidence. I can't possibly comment on that yet. Nevertheless, if I ever try the manga (and I do believe I'll try soon enough), then I'll perhaps add my experience there with the manga.
