The Emmy’s are NOT ready, here it comes

_Julia_ is a comfy show, albeit not one with as much substance as it would like to claim. The portrayal of Julia feels a little hollow, as she's perpetually disarmingly charming and almost naïve in her pursuits. We never really get to know what makes her tick or what about her drove her to become a TV pioneer. There's also a tendency to put roadblocks in her way that are caricatural at best, and rely a lot on white men being assholes to women. They even did poor Paul dirty for a while, which is really sad considering how supportive and adoring the real-life Paul Child was of his wife. Ah, but it kind of comes together in the end. And there are plenty of genuine, heartfelt moments that feel earned to make it a pleasant watch. The show kind of wore its welcome in the end, but it was short enough that I didn't mind too much.

What a fabulous show, love it

A look into the life of the first TV chef, Julia Child. Really well-done program celebrating this influential woman and the many people in her circle. The show gives us a glimpse into American life at the time: the challenges faced by women, people of color and anyone with an opinion countering that of the government. And the food! They highlight an appreciation for delicious food, giving value to time spent preparing and savoring a good meal. I feel inspired to get in the kitchen!

Never really knew much about Julia. Such an interesting story and such a heart warming show that leaves you smiling after every episode. And jeeze louise, what a transformation the lead takes into the role of Julia. Amazing talent.

Sarah Lancashire is perfect as Julia. Bon Appetit!

[HBO Max] A charming series, much more transcendental than it seems, that also addresses, albeit in a shallow way, the social revolutions of the sixties, through the figure of Julia Child, a pioneer of cooking shows but which at the same time seemed to keep the tradition of the wife in the kitchen. Extraordinary work by Sarah Lancashire that extracts doses of humanity from a unique character.

I found this show completely delightful. Growing up during the teething years of PBS and seeing it from all angles (_Sesame Street_ to _Cosmos_ and _Kennedy Center events_), this series intrigues me. It's always interesting to see how something is created and matures. "Julia" brings it to us in full, living stereo, showing the birth of WGBH in the left and and "The French Chef" in the right. The casting is superb and the sets and costumes are period perfect. Sarah Lancashire captures the spirit of Julia Child and tastefully mixes with David Hyde Pierce and Bebe Neuwirth. I had my concerns about David and Bebe, whether their "Fraiser" relationship would somehow taint this show. It doesn't. As a binge watcher, I'm always ready for the next season. However, "Julia" had be checking it's status, over and over. It's _**REALLY**_ that good.
