Mark and Jonathan travel to Hawaii to help Aulani a former singer and actress to try and thank people more often. A friend of hers just learned he has AIDS. Danny tells Jonathan he contracted the disease due to a blood transfusion.

Jonathan is still angry with God for not letting him go heaven to see Jane one last time. Jonathan becomes human after being dead for 40 years. Jennifer has fallen in love with Jonathan and now must help him understand that he will always have Jane in his heart regardless of the job he chooses. Jennifer suddenly finds a letter from Jane and as a way of saying goodbye to him he understands that until his job is finished they will always have forever.

Jonathan and Mark return to Mark's old hometown of Oakland and they go visit his old precinct. They learn that there a case of ""the blue flu"" and Mark's old Captain asks him if he could fill in for awhile. He his teamed up with an old friend whom he discovers is a racist. Jonathan then goes to an apartment building that is need of a new handyman and Jonathan meets the (black) woman who is the manager. Now she has two sons, the elder hates anyone white and is practically a delinquent.

A country doctor tries to teach the value of been a small-town doctor and excepting anything for pay. Dr. Hudsboth has to work hard to pay off a mortgage.

It's Christmas time and Jonathan and Mark's latest assignment is to try and get two divorce parents who are still bickering and using their son as pawn against each other to stop and start being parents. They go and work for the father who is a lawyer. They bring their son to a department store and there the new store Santa is upset at the store for promoting toy guns, and when the boy tells Santa what he wants, he tells him that he can't be sure if he can give that. Later the store throws him out cause of his bellowing. He later goes back and is arrested, Jonathan offers to defend him, and the boys father sees this as an opportunity to get back at his wife who is the store's counsel. While in jail the Santa manages to lift the spirits of some of the people he meets there including one of the guards. Jonathan and Mark are hired to help honor ranch. They must try to convince a grandfather that he is still needed and isn't too old to do anything just because he thinks he is.

Frank Reilly wants to get his sight back but soon realizes that the procedure the doctor wants to perform will do him no good. Meanwhile Scotty is just about to lose his sight and isn't sure what his future will be like without sight. Before he loses his sight he must learn to do things as a blind person would do. Frank and Scott must help each other realize that even though both of their dreams are ending they still have their own futures to find.

Jonathan tries to reunite a father and son who are a comedian and an actor, respectively together by getting to star in a community theatre play about an estranged father and son. But the comedian's antics drives his son mad.

When he proved to be a tough nut to crack, Jonathan decides to take the direct approach and reveal to Benson that he is an angel and at the rate he is going he won't make it to heaven. But Benson is still unmoved, and the last thing Jonathan tells him is to read the Bible. That while sleeping a burglar breaks into Benson's home and shoots him. Benson runs into Jonathan asking him what happened, Jonathan shows him that he is a spirit and that he died. Jonathan shows him exactly the kind of life that he's been leading and how it affects others, and how people really feel about him like his girlfriend, who has another guy and who is planning a palimony suit. Jonathan and Mark have an interesting assignment as they try to give Gary and Alice a new direction in their lives. As Gary begins to fall in love with Alice he soon discovers a secret that suddenly makes him a father. Alice makes plans to give up her baby for adoption but as the birth of the baby gets closer she begins to have second thoughts about giving the baby up.

Jonathan and Mark work as detectives to uncover a drug problem with a family and a school.

Jonathan and Mark go to work at a halfway house where people who have mental problems that have been institutionalized but unfortunately due to need of space, the ones who are deemed no longer a danger to society, but not really treated are released. So the halfway house is a place where they can treated before going back to their former lives. Now the residents of the neighborhood where they are situated don't want them there and are vocal about it. But when the son of one of them, hits it off with one of them, he thinks that they are a little hasty. And another woman meets one of them at the grocery and hit it off with her too, and is shocked to see that she is one of them, and Jonathan tells her why she was committed. Some of the children are playing with a catapult and set fire to what they are launching, eventually they set fire to a truck and one of them, who was jogging comes across it and tries to help but when the authorities arrive, they suuspect that he was responsible. It's Christmas time and Jonathan and Mark's assignment is to prove to a cynical reporter, who doesn't believe that there's any goodness in the world, that there is.

Bill Cassidy is a model TV dad of the hit series, ""That's Our Dad, a show known for its closing (where he ""adopts"" two orphaned children at the end of each show). At least on-screen Cassidy is the model TV dad. Off the set is a little different story. Bill is an egotistical jerk who verbally abuses his co-stars and crew members ... and even the children he was said to have adopted. His off-screen attitude is put to the test when two orphans, who happen to be fans of ""That's Our Dad,"" and especially Bill Cassidy. The two track down Bill and ask if he'd consider adopting them ... especially because they have taken the closing segments to heart. When Bill refuses to speak to them, and later tells them to get lost, the children enlist Jonathan and Mark's help in talking with Bill and setting his attitude straight.

After his owners are trapped at the bottom of a hill in car accident, a precocious dog tries to lead Jonathon and Mark to them.

Jonathan and Mark taken interest in Todd who has no desire to be in Special Olympics because he feels he can't do anything. Tries to convince Todd to get into Special Olympics to prove to himself that he can do things. Scotty and Diane learn whether they can have children or if they will have to adopt children. Diane learns her fate and it decides to adopt children but Scotty is against adoption because he wants to have a baby that looks like him and can run and play.

Jonathan helps a brainy but severly obese girl named Jenny gain self-esteem and deal with ridicule from her ""friends."" At one point, the snotty girls invite Jenny over to model a swimsuit, predictably leading to humiliation and the girl to gorge herself with doughnuts. Jonathan tells her the girls aren't her friends and helps her see that she has many other gifts people appreciate. Meanwhile, the angel sees that the jock (named Jack) that Jenny is tutoring needs to have his ego shaken, particularly since he considers the girl unsightly due to her weight. Jack had wanted to have a pretty cheerleader help him, but of course Jonathan can see where that is headed.

Jonathan helps a novelist and his son both find inspiration in writing their next books and connecting with each other again.

Mark and Jonathan try to reunite a mother with her son who is now the premier of the U.S.S.R. When he is told that his mom would like to see him he believes Jonathan is with the CIA and not an angel.

A man's son has been MIA in Vietnam since 1968. When his remains are found, no one in his town comes to his funeral. He then tries to establish a scholarship in his son's name but the people who don't want to be reminded of the war, don't want to be a part of it. But Jonathan invades their dreams and reminds them of how much his son has done for them, like the man whose place he took in the draft and he didn't have to, the son of the town banker whose life he saved, and so on. After the scholarship for his son is established, Jonathan tells him that it's time for him to thank God, so Jonathan places him in an old bomber plane and it takes off, with Jonathan with him. Along the way Jonathan vanishes and his son appears and they go on together.

Jonathan runs into his wife but because he has a new name and form she doesn't recognize him. He goes to see her and asks if he and Mark could stay. She at first wouldn't let them but when he says, ""keep smiling"" which is something he always says in his ld form, she let them in. They see that she is lonely and their daughter lives far away and doesn't want to take the time to visit. Jonathan sends Mark to see his daughter and asks her to come visit her mother but she and her husband refuse to do so. When Jonathan learns of this he goes to her in the guise of a gigolo, and he riles them and they visit her.

Jonathon and Mark are assigned to help UFO watcher Harvey Milsap gain custody of his recently orphaned grandson, Adam. Harvey's across-the-street neighbor Mildred Kelsey, who is furious when Harvey fools with his radio equipment while her soap is on, slowly but surely falls in love with him.

Jonathan and Mark go to work for a football team. Their mission is to help Alex Carpenter, a player, who is worried that he might be cut, so he takes pills. Dr. Hickey, the team doctor, who supplies him with the pills he takes, is also taking pills. His son, Neal who works with his father, who is constantly being pressured by his father to do better, is also taking pills, without his father's knowledge. When his son nearly dies, and learning that it's because of him that he is an addict. He admits that he is an addict too. When Alex admits his addiction, he goes to a support group meeting, and he is shocked to see his dealer, Dr. Hickey there, and is the guest speaker, but is stunned and moved when both he and his son admit their addiction.

Jonathon and Mark connect a young blind woman with a disfigured artist.

A new play about a man who dies and speaks to God opens. Jonathan is now a priest while Mark is now the dresser for, Fred Fusco, the actor who plays the lead. Fusco's a little morose. But after the plays first performance, he changes; he claims that God was in the audience. People think that he is trying to generate some publicity for the fledgling play, including Jonathan. But nevertheless it seems to work, the play is a smash and Fusco is changing especially after meeting a boy who has cancer. After the boy dies Fusco decides to bequeath all of his property and assets to an endownment in the boy's name. which makes his sister and nephew unhappy, cause they rely on him for their necessities. When he also announces that he will die soon, his sister tries to have him committed. And Jonathan who after telling Fusco that he thinks that he is a fraud and that he is an angel, and Fusco then apologizes to him after God tells him that Jonathan told him was true, decides to speak to God and as
