I watched this series after watching **The Dawn of the Witch** (https://trakt.tv/shows/the-dawn-of-the-witch) and it was far better than than the later both in terms of story and characters. Ending theme was also very soothing which adds an extra charm to every episode. Overall I'll definitely recommend this one but not the sequel.

Some "sexual" comments bothered me, especially since they don't add much to the story. They could have been handled differently. > Look out : :warning: The Anime ends in the same way as the Manga. The story stops at the end of a major arc. If you want to know what happens next, you'll have to read the Light Novel. Unfortunately, it's not licensed in all countries. On the other hand, there is a sequel to the original story called "The Dawn of the Witch/Mahoutsukai Reimeiki", which is itself based on a finished Manga and a Light Novel still in progress... What a mess!

I was about to watch Dawn of the witch, when I saw that it was a spin-off of this show. So I decided to watch this one first... It was great! Excellent MC (Mercenary), great story, and side characters with depth and their own stories. I kind of saw the end coming a bit before I think I was supposed to, but I won't take points off for that because of the execution. I of course wouldn't have minded more fight scenes, but there was enough action to keep me solidly interested. Would really love to see a season 2 of this that brought in more adventure (as they alluded to), as opposed to the first season which was mostly just trying to solve the kingdom's problems.
