I've been around for this show since day one. I loved it from the core of my soul. The first campaign was beyond perfection and the one-shots were so fu. Then slowly into campaign 2 I started taking small breaks and had to catch up 2 or 3 episodes every now and then, ending up towards the end of the campaign that I was running behind more and more. It was an indication of stagnation, because my natural tendency to just want consume it all was fading more and more.

Then before campaign the strange Exandria Unlimited came into existence and it was really just bad. I just clicked through parts because it's was so cringe and the DM was unoriginal and it was all inside jokes that were just not fun.

Then campaign 3 starts and the mindset of Exandria Unlimited continues. The slow burn first felt nice and a slow introduction felt welcome and I could relate to most characters. But to be honest soon I started to notice that it wasn't roleplaying anymore. Its one big bag of inside jokes and silly forward pushing of content. They don't truly sit there anymore as fans of D&D. They are there for work and looping the content forward. The characters feel empty and glued together instead of a whole. the duo-styles are boring.

Either they need to go back to their basement and rediscover where the passion started, or it might be better to slowly knot and end to it. I just don't hope they milk it out until the last drop. They are making filthy amounts of money and it shows that the so-called comfort food of this has just made them cut back more and more on originality. The show lives on as a business, not as a passion.

I tried multiple times to get back into it but really can't. The definition of the quality of the content is not horrible. It just lost its touch. I feel empty and nothing is relatable. The jokes run their course way too often and the sudden change to serious scenes is more just acting than honesty. D&D in a way might be acting when we say the term roleplaying, but this is just not funny for me anymore. I'm glad for them if they are truly still having fun and wish them all the best. Vox Machina was perfection. They are all amazing individuals, but I just can't anymore.

Sorry guys; it was fun and I wish you the best. But you lost me :broken_heart:

@allendar To each their own, of course. I personally dropped first campaign after a couple of episodes.
But second is great so far and third is pretty good and hilarious in my opinion minus a ticking clock ~~kinda lead to great character moments, sure~~ and I would prefer slower pace closer to Mighty Nein and not to Chroma Conclave.

I feel like this genre of storytelling and character exploration shines best when it's sidequest that allows characters to interact and change the world and it's NPC. Like the ball, talk by campfire, night in the museum, rock drama, some interactions in Whitestone, the bull etc.

Btw, it's a bit funny to read about roleplaying aspect of 3rd campaign after three months in Uthodurn ~~especially 3x53 that was something~~.
