I was expecting this to be a stupid zombie movie, but I was not prepared for what I got.
To say this is bad is to sell it short. No, this is uniquely bad, in the same way as _Troll 2_ (1990). Though, unlike that masterpiece of insanity, this film keeps a very coherent flow.
So, what is this? It's a zombie revenge slasher. Yeah, I can't think of another horror movie that had the same bright idea. I mean, I'd have to namedrop _The Golem_ (1920) or _The Crow_ (1994) to come anywhere close, but neither of those fit into the same '80s grindhouse trash category.
Anyway. Given that this is a revenge movie, you'd think we'd spend all of our time with our avenging zombie, but nah, we're going to focus on the thugs who murdered him, and the cops trying to crack the case. As dumb as this sounds, it is 100% the right move.
I can't stress enough that almost every part of this movie is bad: the dialog, the acting, the special effects, the editing, but the pacing is so tight that it never becomes boring.
All of that being said, if I would have rated just the first fifteen minutes of this, I'd give it a 3/10. Just bad. After watching the full film, I think that this would be even better upon a second viewing.
Total cult-status material. I don't know how I never heard of this before. If you love garbage horror that you would have found on VHS during the '80s, this is a must watch.
