Jennifer Connelly does great as Virginia but it wasn't enough to keep me involved in the narrative. It all seems a little messy and all characters (except Virginia) felt a little bland and boring. I couldn't really buy the whole Emmett/Jessie plot or any Emmett related storyline at all.

Jennifer Connolly plays Virginia, a single-mother in the middle of America with psychologically traumatized past.
