Fun movie! Very cool to see an early 80s LA. The soundtrack is great...except the song performed live at the Prom is called '#34;Johnny are you queer'#34; or something insanely offensive like that. It'#39;s the chorus and they repeat it over and over and over and over. The back up dancers even do a limp wrist action! It'#39;s just so unbelievably wrong. I know it was the early 80s but whewwwwww boy.

I am a child of the 80s. While I still regularly listen to 80s music, the same can't be said for 80s movies. Sure, it is fun to look back on the era to see what things looked like (or how Hollywood tells us they look), but for the most part the movies are crap. And that brings us to this movie.... I can't remember the last time that I saw a movie that was this.... unnecessary? Maybe it would have meant more if I understood the difference between Hollywood and the Valley, but I do not. There have been hundreds of movies about people from different sides of the track having a relationship (side note: the description says that Cage's character is a "punk", which is hilarious).
