To me, this was like a darker side of a "slice of life" film. It works for its purpose and was entertaining, but overall I don't think it would hold up to multiple watches.

_Trees Lounge_ is a movie where nothing really happens. It's just a week in the life of Tommy (Buscemi). He lost his job, and his lady, at the same time. His only solace is booze. There are a lot of moments here, but no actual plot to speak of. I did think the parallel between Tommy and Mike was interesting, but it never went anywhere.
While not disliking the movie, I doubt I'd ever want to watch it again. This is definitely a mood movie, as in I'd have to be in a specific mood to watch it. Building on that, I do not categorize this as a comedy: it's an indie drama.
I feel like there should be more to say, but no strong emotions were evoked in either direction. Good acting. Believable dialog. I just couldn't relate to the characters, and I think that's the real issue. The movie is going to speak to a particular crowd, to which I do not belong.

Buscemi's movie and he is incredibly gifted at every job. A movie about people drowning sorrows that you can sip a beer to. Steady paced. Quite funny. Relatable if not with yourself than with people you know. I wish more movies were like this. A solid story played well.
