So, this is a home-invasion movie with a weird theme about family, which lands it somewhere in between _The Strangers_, and _The Texas Chainsaw Massacre_.
The production is good. The main draw is Katharine Isabelle, however it was Amy Forsyth who peaked my interest. Overall, I'd say the actors all did a great job. That being said, Peter DaCunha has the unenviable task of playing the annoying son; I think he could have dialed it back a few clicks, but not too bad.
The movie is written in a way that would need a prequel or a sequel to tell us more about the killers. There is another movie called _Tormented_ - and the cover art is identical to this movie, like **identical** - but I don't think it's related. Really weird.
Not amazing. Not bad. Just past the point of mediocrity. If you dig home-invasion horror, _Torment_ is worth at least one watch.

Katharine Isabelle stars in the dark thriller Torment. When a newly married couple takes their son to their country house they end up being hunted by a backwater cult. The film does an impressive job at creating tension and atmosphere, but the characters aren’t developed very well. The son in particular is unsympathetic and doesn’t seem worth the effort his parents go through to save him. And the ending is painfully cliché, with the villain popping up for one last scare/twist. Still, Torment has enough creepiness and disturbing imagery to delivery some chills.

Not a terrible movie but awfully generic. If they ever get around to a sequel it might get a bit more creative but until then there are better home invasion flicks to watch.
