It's a character study that spends most of its time justifying the character's goals and showcasing the lengths he'll go to attain them rather than internal conflictions or genuine insights into its character.

A master thief wants to give up thievery and raise a family in a beautiful home. He decides to seek out some big scores, then bail out, and this ability seems insured. But his father figure, who trained him to become a thief, is dying in prison and wants to live a little longer outside. After some struggles with the court, he gets custody over him; however, this father figure dies immediately after he gains custody. He wants a child, but he must adopt one, and he can't because he's a criminal, so he gets one through his boss.

And once he completes his first big score, he only gets a fraction of his stake until the rest is sold. He's in a rush to achieve his dream, so he gets upset. This aggressive hastiness angers his boss, so he closes the door for his talented thief to bail(though he may have already been planning to) and threatens to take his child. So, what does our protagonist do? He gives up his dream, destroys their property, and kills many of them, notably his boss...

What am I supposed to take away from that exactly? I don't know; many people like this film, that’s fine; I'm not big on it, and wish it had focused more on heisting.
