A fake propaganda fairytale from Colonia Dignidad during the Chilean dictatorship. It could have easily been half as long, but the visuals kept me glued to the screen in awe. Decades of progress in stop-motion animation have been cheerfully thrown out the window to be replaced with this raw yet charmingly expressive work, with papier-mâché dolls and lumps of chalk and paint forming and dissolving themselves on screen in a spiral of madness. Disturbing yet fascinating at the same (but it's well-known that I am funked up in the head).

An artistic masterpiece that’s a little too inside baseball with the plot. It’s really hard to follow without proper understanding of the history between Chile and Germany, however I did respond emotionally when I was watching it. After doing some research a lot of its ideas fell into place, and that made me like the film a lot more. I respect it as a beautifully crafted, singular experience, but also one that I probably don’t get as much out of as others because it is so culturally specific. 7.5/10

Admire the amount of time this animation took and the creepy atmospheric vibes it creates. However, since my knowledge of the story they're talking about is limited, I can't say I understood a ton of what happened.
