Produced by Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine for MTV and Dickhouse Productions, The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia is a documentary about the renowned West Virginia outlaw Jesco White and his eccentric backwoods family. In addition to getting in trouble with the law, the Whites, who live deep within Appalachia, uphold a time-honored dancing style, even as they contend with poverty, drugs and other issues. Alternately humorous and sad, the movie is an unflinching look at life on the criminal margins of rural mountain culture.

This family needs to break the cycle... They are so clueless and can't see how they are very much their own problems. Absolutely insufferable, honestly. It's one thing to have struggles, it's another to have absolutely zero insight.

Best thing about this documentary is the music by Deke Dickerson & Hank The 3rd along with Jesco White's dancing. I actually preferred the fictional version of the story https://trakt.tv/movies/white-lightnin-2009 which is masterful in editing style.

10th Anniversary edition. It's just extremely boring to me. I think I'm supposed to be amused by this group of hillbillies but there's nothing extraordinary about them. It's just a big uneducated hillbilly family. They screw and do drugs with reckless abandon, sometimes on top of each other, but I didn't find them or the movie particularly entertaining as they continue to snort pills and breed. The Boone County Mating Call is the only amusing part of the movie. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4aiWXM9FFI
