Overview

In the middle of a routine patrol, officer Daniel Carter happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman. As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it's too late.

While I agree with a lot of the criticism of this film, I think overall it kind of works. The plot and acting is kind of disjointed and inconsistent, as others have said, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. It seems like just one too many ideas got smashed together - the pregnancy/body horror, the cultist angle, the weird/metaphysical aspect all didn't come together as well as they should. I thoguht the first two acts were great, but the third act is corridor-drama and confusing monologue. It's no masterpiece, but if you want a kooky, ambitious b-movie to watch in October this isn't a bad choice.

What a HUGE disappointment... I'm not sure if it's me that has seen way too many movies or that the movie is really that bad. The acting looked so fake to me, Really bad camerawork, Bad special effects, Bad looking monsters. So many things that don't make any sense. None of the plots are ever explained, and I'm left behind with so many questions. There is an army of people wearing a white burka with a black triangle on it... that isn't even creepy! Who came up with that? That person has watched way too many terrorist movies. lol But all the jokes aside... It feels like the creator picked something from the most popular horror movies and smashed it together, Thinking it would end up perfect. Sadly enough the creator failed at every attempt. I think the name of this movie should be changed into "aVoid"

Started out meh and it just went down hill from there. Long story short this is not a good movie. It’s not even a fun bad movie. It’s just bad. A movie with tons of plot holes should not make you think because then you become aware of said plot holes and suspending reality becomes difficult.

Lovecraftian horror, with a little bit of Clive Barker thrown in, this isn't a bad film, just a little messy at times. In a world of cookie-cutter horror, this is trying to be something a little bit different. With a little more fleshing out of the mythos at the core, this would have been a better film.

This is the worst movie I have ever seen. It's amazing how confused you already start out and how unreal and crazy and just plain bad it gets after just a short while. Don't bother watching this movie… bad acting and really bad storyline and you will be confused how they jump around and don't explain stuff…

The great use of practical effects are greatly hampered by a haphazard plot and disjointed final act that leaves much to be desired. Could have been so much more, but as a sum of it's parts, it's a little bit of a weak package overall.

Simple, very entertaining throwback with a fuck ton of great deaths and monster shit. More in the vein of late 80's mid budget video rental gems, not for those unfamiliar with these kind of trash aesthetics. And even then, it might seem like a challenge in some ways plot-wise. If you can't tolerate it, I'd recommend pulling the ol "fast forward to the gore" move in the very least.

In my opinion this could have been a cult hit with much better leads and a little bit more explanation of plot. Certainly not as bad as some reviews here would have you believe. Worth a watch with an interesting ending.

A convoluted mess of a movie. It started out as a promising creature feature but descends into schlock. The last half was reminesant of a direct to video flick from the 80's.

Practical effects monster movie. The effects were good, rarely seen, and looked too staged. By that I mean they didn't have any natural movements or purpose other than to be there as an effect. If you compare it to say The Thing, the monster from The Thing moves around more like an actual being and has a purpose. This movie throws in some evil cloaked cult stuff, but it's not scary. The plot, actors and character development didn't really make the movie special in any way. There was no tense atmosphere either even though it tried. Kind of feels like it was made to scratch a practical effect itch rather than make an interesting horror. The direction seemed more influenced by video games. Awful. The two directors are involved in the new IT movie. That worries me. IT has somehow been rated already, though it's not out.

Is like to say that it was my wife that was adamant I do not give it more than a "meh" rating. I personally was invested, it got a little predictable, bit of long towards the end, and you may be scratching your head a little more than you wanted.

This was ace. Having been this entertained by a movie in a while. No expectations. The acting was solid. The atmosphere was just right. Loved it.

With an atmosphere of dread and isolation, the Void works even if only for its visual appeal and body horror.

Visually satisfying for lovers of eldritch horror. The move appears to be inspired by Event Horizon and Sunshine, and falls far short of both of these films. I'd recommend it to people who enjoy gorey movies with with an aspect of survival horror.

"Hello 911? I'd like to report a theft. _The Void_ has stolen the aesthetic from straight out of my brain and personally I feel very attacked." _Final rating:★★★½ - I strongly recommend you make the time._

Some neat contemporary aesthetics aside, it is a fairly template and unimaginative take on Lovecraft.
