A genius engineer student Thom Johnson (Freddie Highmore) is recruited by a crew of Thieves lead by Walter Moreland (Liam Cunningham) to steal lost treasures from the Bank of Spain during the World Cup.

I am a sucker for heist movies so of course I had to give this a watch. While not blown away by it, I didn't dislike it. The idea is actually quite genius I thought, but unfortunately it lacks in cliché after cliché with the way it was put together. While not awful, it did make it pretty average.

I seen a comment from someone mentioning how Thom googled "most secure vault in the world" and it just made me laugh. How do I take a heist movie seriously when the lead character genius does that. A lot of the set up for the heist was not as interesting as I would have liked, it was too slow at times for a runtime of almost 2 hours it dragged the movie on for a lot longer than needed. I didn't really understand the actual solution to how to pull off the heist and enter the vault, it didn't seem like that would ever work but hey it's a film after all and it did create some suspenseful moments when they do get inside.

The characters were pretty lacking in this. Freddie looks and acts the part of a genius really well, but he isn't a great lead. Liam Cunningham is a great actor, and his character was one of the better ones. A surprising one I enjoyed very much was Jose Coronado as the head of security. I am unfamiliar with him as I don't watch Spanish movies, but he was fearful, he bought energy and charisma that many others lacked, and he was very believable. Excellent performance from him.

The ending was as predictable as ever and I doubt I would ever watch this again, but it had some fun moments. 5/10.
