My wife and our oldest middle kid wanted to watch a movie on Saturday, we settled on this...

I used to really like this movie... I still think it's good, but there's always been a few things that bugged me. Watching it again and looking specifically for these issues, thinking maybe I just forgot how they were resolved, I realized they aren't really resolved at all...

Why spin this crazy tale to a cop and risk slipping up when he could have just said nothing? Everything that happens between the initial lineup in NY and the interrogation in the CA police station is made-up. Keyser drops so many details that would be easy to check, he must want the cop to figure out he's not "Verbal Kint". Why? The only explanation I can think of is he's doing it for fun or sport... Screwing around with this cop while he waits for his bail to clear.

But then why did the "all powerful" Keyser Soze allow himself to get caught at the pier in the first place?

Still, I'd consider this a decent crime movie even if it requires some suspension of disbelief.

Also, Bryan Singer directed and Kevin Spacey (obviously) stars... like the art, not the artists... And making it pretty damn easy to view Verbal as the evil mastermind he is supposed to really be.

Another note: the kid fell asleep half-way through though swore she was awake for the whole thing. When asked who Keyser Soze is, she replied "the bad guy". We laughed.
