Ticks the boxes for fans of this style of horror. Weird main character played very well. Bizarre story that continues to entertain for the most part. Campness. Decent setting. Genuine unease.
It succeeds at becoming a living hell in the last half, and the two main 'bad' characters interact really well. You either see something disturbingly real between them or have a giggle at the insanity acted out.
Some of horror is pretty good at times and the sadness of the situation does become apparent once or twice. When Junior actually appears... well I have no idea what to make of it after that. Should I laugh or feel sad? I swung. It does slow a bit at the end but a lot of movies do that rely on an action ending.
Is it for everyone? No way, but I liked it. Lassick's performance saved it from being mediocre. He really had fun when he needed to and got emotional when he needed to.
