Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck), James Coughlin (Jeremy Renner), Albert Magloan (Slaine) and Desmond Elden (Owen Burke) rob a rank and take a bank manager Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall) hostage. To make sure she can't ID any of them, Doug begins to get close to her to see what she knows but things become complicated when he starts falling for her.

The Town is a gritty, intense, and hard-hitting crime thriller. Ben Affleck manages to capture a sense of realism through the characters that just felt so raw. Jeremy Renner was incredible as the violent best friend was probably the standout performance of the movie. Hall and Hamm were also great in their roles. The story while not completely original, it did feel like it had his own identity to it and not just the usual heist move we have all seen before. Seeing MacRay and Coughlin deal with the situation in quite different ways and have different outlook on the life and what is next for them. The characterisation was fantastic, but I just wish they explored it a bit further. The whole scenes with Doug's father and the florist felt unfinished. Also, while Blake Lively is a fine actress and did great in this, I can't help but feel like her character was not really relevant and could have been left out. Overall, a great film that was thoroughly enjoyable all the way through. 8/10.
