Fantastic cinematography..but we dont really need to see the brutality as we know its happening and that should be enough. The film is uncomfortable viewing, filthy and gritty. It really pulls you in and makes your skin crawl. Who thought Australia was all about sun , sea and surf.

Jesus fucking Christ (mate)... _American History X_ is like a Disney movie by comparison. Astounding performances by everyone, most notably Pittaway (Jamie) and Henshall (John). Direction and cinematography were masterful. The editing lost me in a couple of scenes. The score and sound design really amplified the tension and dread.

A hard movie to watch because of the heavy, graphic images, made all the more indigestible and disturbing by the fact that it's a true story. The images have cold colors and close-ups that often move with the scene, giving the feeling of being present. The development alternates between anguish and slowness, which ends up making the movie very long, especially with some long scenes in the last act. The performances are strong and extremely real.

This was brutal! Extremely grim & dark subject matter, and that's before you even come to any murders. Excellent script, acting and a sparse, chilling soundtrack. Everything really was top notch.
