It'#39;s not a typical Liam movie. OK, he is running around a bit but not as much as before. I would expect a little more action but I see that he is getting older day by day like me. Timekiller.

I'#39;d almost rather watch paint dry, seriously.

For a movie named "The Marksman", there ought to be more shootouts.

This marksman misses the target. Neeson is as dependable as always but the film doesn’t have a good enough script to ignite excitement or soulful emotion.

Well, actors gotta make a livin'#39;.

Thankfully not another tired Taken clone. This one tries to be a bit more dramatic whilst having a few action sequences to bolster it. It'#39;s a bit of a Rambo V in quality - ie. cheap and sombre. It does benefit from the relationship with the boy though. It was okay. Predictable yet not boring. There has been worse put out by Neeson these last few years but you wouldn'#39;t watch this a second time. 6.25/10

A very forgettable movie. An old man, struggling with making decisions. And no basic idea how to avoid haunters.

6/10.. more a drama than action/thriller. Neeson is superb as always, and some good eye candy in Katherine Winnick. Film dragged on and was a bit slow at times, but overall I enjoyed it. Not as bad as some other comments and criticism suggest, but not a film I’d go out and recommend either.. however, overall it was decent.

Of course, people will watch this for Liam Neeson and, maybe, Katheryn Winnick, but may be surprised by the talent of young Jacob Perez. The tone of this movie is somber. It doesn’t really rise to the level of an action flick or a thriller but teeters more along the lines of a drama. I give this film a 6 (fair) out of 10. [Drama]

With some known actors in it, I was of the misconception this would be something good, or special. Instead, most of it is kind of a snooze fest, some regurgitated tale of the ole, retired soldier with nothing left to lose, suddenly finding himself in the role of a young child'#39;s caretaker while fleeing from some bad guys. Nothing about this was really new, but while tales are being retold all the time, this one didn'#39;t really add anything that made it worth watching. I probably won'#39;t remember it in a few weeks. Instead... **Hunt for the Wilderpeople**, I do remember.

The most boring movie i have ever seen don’t waste your time on this

I’ve got nothing positive to say about this movie

Looks typical Liam Neeson, but I don'#39;t see anything wrong with that at all Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CURfgGd3ACw'amp;feature=emb_logo

Not even Liam Neeson can save an action thriller as bland and predictable as this one. Not god awful or totally stupid, but generic and your time deserves better.

The Liam Neeson version of _Rambo: Last Blood_, literally. Aging, down-on-his-luck rancher whose ranch just happens to run adjacent to the Mexican border gets crossways with the Mexican cartel. Then somehow manages to show them he's not one to mess with. Why it's called _The Marksman_ is anyone's guess, though, because apart from casually mentioning that he was a Marine, there's never any mention of his marksmanship skills, or any storyline about how good/bad he is with a weapon. Definitely not his most captivating movie, but at least he didn't wear a toga and bellow _"Release the Kraken!"_ .

Motivation is non-existent in this movie and I just did not side with any character here at all. Terrible writing but okay acting from all involved. Music choices too add nothing. Boring as all heck.

Spoilers

Not going to say this was bad, it was pretty meh, but for a movie called '#39;the marksman'#39; I really expected more.... ummm.... marksmanship? He has got a few good shots but overall very little gunplay. Its also predictable and unrealistic. For example he has a bag of
cartel money right, and they are looking for his specific truck that he knows is going to breakdown on him, but he does go to a car lot and buy a used truck for a few grand?
Stuff like that. Doesn'#39;t kill it, but does put holes in the story.

Good way to pass the time - I like these types of films.

Liam Neeson is ok in the movie but there is a lack of chemistry between him and the other players. Seems like they picked a well known actor and threw him into a low budget movie with other unknown not-so-good actors. There was a potential but it never blossomed. Did not like the movie.

Great Movie, Neeson lovers will like it.

I was expecting to see more '#39;marksmanship'#39; in the movie. So that was kind of a downer. On the other hand, this is not like Neesons other more recent movies. There'#39;s a lot less running and hand-to-hand fighting involved. Overall, the movie is OK tho. How I rate: 1-3  = seriously! don'#39;t waste your time 4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this 7-8  = I expect you will like this too 9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!

Same as many, a shame it could have been great, the actors where let down by the story and direction. I watched it all but wont be revisiting the film.

For Liam Neeson fans. A decent watch

Liam Neeson has the magic touch that gives a boost to almost any movie he’s cast in, be it a love story or an action thriller. He makes the most mundane films palatable, so it shouldn’t be a shocker that Neeson is the best thing about “The Marksman,” a formulaic (but still entertaining) movie from director Robert Lorenz. Neeson plays Jim Hanson, an ex-Marine turned Arizona rancher who’s lost his wife to cancer and is about to lose his home to foreclosure. The man lives a life of solitude on an isolated stretch of land that touches the Mexican border. While out tending to his cattle one afternoon with his beloved dog Jackson, Jim sees a young mother named Rosa (Teresa Ruiz) and her son Miguel (Jacob Perez) slip through the border fence and take off running. He stops to help the pair after they plead for protection from the assassins that are following them. Tempers flare and the encounter ends in a shootout, killing Rosa. Her dying wish is for Jim to deliver Miguel safely to extended family in Chicago. A predictable road trip follows, with the bad guys hot on their trail. The body count piles up as the deadly cartel doesn’t hesitate to kill anyone and everyone who gets in their way. As they try to outrun the danger, the man and boy form an unlikely friendship and manage to stay one step ahead of the killers who remain in pursuit. Eventually their luck runs out, and Jim must do whatever it takes to fight for Miguel’s life. Neeson spends most of the movie growling at Perez, who doesn’t have much to do himself. The two have a nice chemistry, but Neeson’s grumpy old man shtick seems more fitting for someone like Clint Eastwood. Neeson does eventually get to open up a can of whoop ass on the baddies, but this film is a slight departure from his normal action star routine. The plot follows standard genre conventions, has plenty of gun violence, and will meet the the expectations of its target audience. Not only is the movie competently directed, but there’s more than enough to enjoy here — especially if you’re looking for mindless entertainment with a hint of a social message. The sentiment is progressive for an action movie, and the illegal immigration angle doesn’t feel forced. It actually works as a means of bringing the characters together. “The Marksman” isn’t exactly a notable player in the action genre, but it’s a good film for those who want a well-made, solid action movie with few surprises. This is a terrible, terrible movie! Does it deserve 1 point? No. Are there worse films - yes. But this is totally boring movie, that has been promoted as Liam Neeson flick, so it deserves a higher criteria in valuation and thus for me it's complete bullish. The movie is so ordinary and the script is so bland it's painful to watch. It is one and a half hour long that slogs like 3 hours. An action movie, that I had to sleep through before watching the last 20 minutes, that's how hopelessly unwatchable it is. Obviously Liam Neeson is at the end of his career, but he is a good actor and it is shame that he has been stereotypically cast in the last 10 years playing the same role of ex-spy, ex-marine, ex-commando etc. who has been put in a place to protect innocents over and over again, which ofc is his role in The Marksman. The movie is not as appalling as any DeNiro movie in the last decade, but still I would rate it lower than that. Because sometimes even a bad movie can have more entertaining value than an average movie. For example, I'd rather see Chuck Norris Missing in Actionthan any movie Neeson or Deniro did in the last 10 years.

Liam Neeson is back in “The Marksman” and despite some flaws; the film provides what his fans want and is an engaging and topical film. Neeson plays Jim; a widower who spends his time on a tiny and struggling ranch in Arizona near the border. Jim is facing foreclosure from the bank after dealing with devastating medical bills for his late wife and feels that as a former Marine he has been given a bad deal by the system. Jim often drives along the border fence and radios in suspected crossings but is willing to provide aid to those who finds in distress. When Jim encounters a young woman and her son Miguel (Jacob Perez); he is drawn into conflict when they are pursued by some dangerous people which forces Jim to shoot when weapons are drawn killing one of the group in the process as well as the boy’s mother. Jim turns the boy over to the Border Patrol where his daughter Sarah (Katheryn Winnick), is in charge of the local office and is concerned when he learns the boy is to be sent back to family. Seeing the individuals he had previously had a gunfight with waiting for Miguel to cross; Jim decides to honor the dying wish of Miguel’s mother to take him to family in Chicago; even when that means abducting Miguel from custody. The trip not only puts Jim at odds with his daughter but as well as Miguel who wants to return home and causes the dangerous individuals to cross into the U.S. to ruthlessly track Jim and Miguel to exact their revenge. The film moves at a steady and deliberate pace until the finale gives fans a taste of the action that they would come to expect. It does take some patience as I saw numerous opportunities for a person of Jim’s skill to attempt to set an ambush, trap, or counter the dangers facing them but the final resolutions are enjoyable and satisfying. While the film does not have the action and intensity of some of Neeson’s recent works; it does provide enough entertainment to make it worth a watch and does contain content based on some very volatile and controversial topics which would spur intense debate. 3 stars out of 5
