I am sorry, but Zac Efron was just too young for this role at the age of 25. She looked older than him. Probably now, at 35 he would've been perfect, but not back then. He was like a teenager with e beard. I couldn't believe the 25 vet thing... It probably is true for U.S., but I would've preffered a little bit more mature guy. Anyway, I liked the movie, just your typical romance movie, not great, not terrible.

Just to clarify... To be eligible for veteran status in the U.S. is only 24 months of actual active duty. Which is pretty legit in the case of this character, who likely joined straight out of high school at 18-19 yrs old, went to boot camp for 13 weeks in the Marines, then served 3 tours over the course of the better part of 6-7 years (technically a tour can be as long as 18 months, so three tours can be 4.5 years). More than the original enlistment requirements for the U.S. military and exceedingly enough time for his PTSD. Also, her character definitely is older that him by a few years - it's established as such within the movie. But yeah, overall not great, not terrible. I only give it a stronger score myself more for the peace I found for myself, if a bit different.
