I heard a lot of praise for this movie over the past 3 or 4 years so that left me with some very high expectations for this one, unfortunately those expectations may have been too high. While I must admit it has some interesting concepts, I still ended up finding a good chuck of the movie to be a bit boring. I would only really recommend this to someone who is really into the 'torture porn' genre. Some moments that are meant to build up suspense ended up being sort of laughable to me. The only time I found myself fully immersed was at the end scenes where the protagonist finally is getting the upper hand. Don't get me wrong though, I still say it is worth 1 watch. Mostly due to the sick but somehow creative, interesting concepts you see in the film, more specifically those that revolve around the villains and what became of their previous victims.

The biggest problem with the movie is the fact that they kept cutting back to the main character's best friend and his prom date, I am 100% convinced that you could take out every single one of those scenes and it would change nothing. You also really have to suspend your disbelief in my opinion, I refuse to believe that the main character would be walking just fine after what he experienced in one scene, but that's just me nitpicking at this point.

It definitely takes inspiration from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's (1974) dinner scene (which is actually another film that I ended up laughing at). Only this film has less focus on tension and mostly focuses on the gore fest it wants to show off. If you're into gore films definitely check it out, you won't be disappointed.
