The way the movie didn’t even come out yet and you’re talking about culture. Who’s culture? A fish?

@atimaf7 The Little Mermaid was originally written in Danish by a Danish author. I’m not sure how much of an impact it really has on Danish culture.

Denmark does have a little mermaid statue but so does Monaco. A statue also does not indicate cultural impact. Heck America has a Rocky statue, I wouldn’t say Rocky had a cultural impact on America though.

If @eon4dk was being genuine I would be open and willing to listen to their opinion. However a quick look at their comment history reveals several political buzzwords like “leftists ideology”(guessing on the second word because they didn’t use a real word, I had to guess as to which word they were trying to use.) and “woke”.

if they were being genuine and about their culture surely they would be upset about Shirley Temple's Storybook’s adaptation as she does not give up her voice to become human and the other changes to the original story. They did not comment on or rate it.

Surely they would be upset by the 1976 Russian adaptation as she gives up her hair for legs and other changes to the original story. They did not comment on or rate it.

Surely they would be upset about Disney’s 1989 animated adaptation with how loosely it was based on the original story. Even Going so far to have sqequels and an animated tv series. No comment or rating on any of them.

Surely they would be upset by any of the slew of other adaptations with the changes they have made to the original story. No comment or rating on any of them.

You could say well maybe they haven’t seen them, that didn’t stop them here. I highly suspect they know nothing of the original story and may not know anything about any of the adaptations.

They may not even know anything about danish culture. I’m am however not going to go as far to speculate on their Danish heritage.

I will however would say they are disingenuous in their comment and rating(’m not sure how you can rate something you’ve never seen, it’s dishonest.)

that their rating was completely politically based and for whatever reason they could not be honest with themselves or anyone about their the reason for their outrage in their comment. Which makes me hope they are not actually Danish as it would be insulting to the heritage to use it as a scapegoat for their displaced anger.
