I enjoyed it but I'#39;m a fan of Kristen Bell. This one definitely isn'#39;t one of my favourites though.

Bad movie about a bunch of whiny people.

I love these kinds of movies. I love Kristen Bell. But this is just not a good movie.

Could have been good, terrible score kicked in before every sex scene. Just another project for Kristen Bell to sleep with someone younger.

Kristen Bell headlines the deplorable indie film The Lifeguard. A depressed and disaffected New York City reporter returns to her home town where she reverts back to her delinquent ways and has an affair with a high school student. The plot just meanders aimlessly from cliché to cliché without any point. And, the characters aren’t very likable or interesting. The acting is also especially weak; even Bell gives a phoned in performance. The Lifeguard is an insipid and inane piece of tripe that hints at a moral, but never gets around to it.

complete waste of time, there'#39;s no point in messing around with bunch of fools in jungle, there'#39;s not even a single thing good about this movie. YOU CAN WATCH IT ON 1.5x SPEED

It'#39;s not as bad as people are saying it is. It'#39;s basically a movie about someone having a mid-life crisis (Which yes, can happen at 29). In the process of this mid-life crisis the main character reverts back to the person she used to be and even has a brief affair with a younger dude, but in the process works out whatever she needs to work out to start the next chapter in her life. There'#39;s no underlying plot past that, no murders going on, no gun fight anyone jumps in to, it'#39;s just a simple story with a simple outcome.

***A successful-yet- disheartened adult goes back home to refresh, but momentarily forgets she’s an adult*** An overachieving 29 year-old reporter in New York City (Kristen Bell) experiences burnout and so flees to her hometown in Connecticut where she gets her old lifeguard job back at the local pool. She reunites with old friends as well as establishes new relations with the teens that frequent the pool, which isn’t a good mix if the adult throws wisdom to the wind. "The Lifeguard" (2013) is a realistic slice-of-life drama that meshes "Lifeguard" (1976) and “Summer of ’42” (1971) with elements of "Snow Angels" (2007). The opening turned me off with its hand-held-camera Indie vibe, but the story eventually pulled me in and the movie turned out to be a pleasant surprise, even a bit of a hidden gem. Leigh (Bell) wanted to go back to her hometown to recapture her carefree adolescent happiness while the teen dudes ironically wanted to escape the mundane town to experience real life. Once an adult, however, you can never be a teen again. It’s gone forever. Everything smacks of real life: the good, the foolish and the ugly. Questions of wisdom (boundaries), responsibility and morality are effectively explored. The movie runs 1 hour, 38 minutes, and was shot in Sewickley Valley, Pennsylvania, just northwest of Pittsburgh. GRADE: A-
