This is the reason I don't accept many invitations to social gatherings. They may appear to be innocent but there is always an agenda by the welcoming host. This is a great thriller, lulls you in and then grabs you by the balls and squeezes until you cannot bear any more tension.

You feel just as uneasy as the main character Will in this movie. That feeling that everything is not as it seems and something is cleary wrong with the hosts of a little too friendly dinner party. A good thriller with a crazy ending.

The first two times I tried to watch this, I got bored and turned it off. It was on nearly every "Best Netflix Horror Movies to Watch This Year" list so I gave it a 3rd try. I'm glad I did. The plot and tension take forever to build but the final few minutes are explosive. 7.5/10

Solid front-to-back, but the best moments are in the middle. The constant back and forth and the intrigue behind our main character, Will, are fantastic. His confrontations and interactions with the other party go-ers are the highlight of the movie, and his performance is great. Logan Marshall-Green delivers here. Strong writing, a great score, and tense throughout. 8/10.

Will and Kira attend a dinner party with old friends. One happens to be the mother of Will's child when they used to be together. Another is her new man, who is certainly not what he appears.

I knew something awful was going on, just like everyone else who's seen this. I was close in my estimation of what was happening, but in hindsight, I'm better with what the film did than with where I thought it was going.

The final shot is really great and really ominous. Given this, I should have liked "The Invitation" more, but I was turned off by the characters. In what is becoming more and more prevalent in movies, they're characters searching for some kind of alternate lifestyle while expecting to retain the benefits of a life made possible by more traditional culture and careers.

I’ve seen this film recommended on many horror lists so I finally decided to give it a shot. It was pretty good, maybe not as great as the many recommendations indicated but good. The pacing was a bit slow for my taste, and the finale played out too quickly. I thought the final shot was a good way to wrap up before the credits rolled. Not the type of film that I think I’d ever feel the need to rewatch.

I came into this movie knowing that I was supposed to know as little as possible about this movie as possible. Part of the enjoyment of watching this film was trying to figure out where the simple yet very odd beginning to the movie was going. The final scene was very satisfying and I think the movie did a great job deploying various metaphors for life (based on the reviews I think many people missed these - the intention of the film was to be more than just a thriller).

The last 20 min were pretty good too bad this movie was 1h30min, so 90% of it was just pure **boredom**, to me it wasn't' built enough tension it didn't make feel anything but bored, it was predictable, weird and a whole lot of nothing going on up until the end. If the movie had the same energy as the end or if that energy was slowly built throughout the time it would be way more interesting, to me, this is, sadly, an overhyped movie.

*The 6 is mainly for the end of it.*

I guess movies revolving around dinner parties with lots of paranoia are my thing. Kind of a similar set up to Coherence (highly recommend) but completely different at the same time. This seemed a bit more personal.

Extremely tense throughout, I loved it.
