So you can tell “The Hobbit” in less than three overlong films. However, a runtime of 77 minutes is also somewhat extreme in the opposite direction, and the pacing is anything but ideal. Sometimes the plot progresses so quickly that it feels like you only have to blink, and you're suddenly two or three stops further on. Other scenes, on the other hand, drag on for what seems like an eternity. The animation style is also not exactly pretty, and on top of that, the songs are quite dull. All in all, “The Hobbit” by Rankin/Bass is definitely not worth a recommendation from me.
