Easily one of the best thrillers of the 90'#39;s with great work by the entire cast.
The days when exciting thrillers like "The Fugitive" were a big deal in theaters are unfortunately long gone. And I seriously hope that this will change again at some point. These days, films of this kind tend to be released on streaming services, and I don't want to say much about their quality. Be that as it may, in the 1990s, Netflix and co. were still far away, so a movie like this could become one of the most successful of the year. And it achieves this with fairly simple means, above all with strong actors and a suspenseful cat-and-mouse game. The mystery surrounding the murder of the wife of Dr. Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford) falls a little short, but there is certainly a reason why the film was not considered for the screenplay category when it received seven Oscar nominations. However, the rather thin plot is hardly a problem at all because the tension is so high throughout that the viewer is never forced to delve too deeply into all the details. For me, "The Fugitive" is therefore definitely always a highlight.
La única referencia que tenía de ésta película era Milhouse Van Houten saltando por un vertedero.
A by-the-numbers plot is elevated to a much stronger film by the relentless pace and two great central performances. Harrison Ford can play this sort of everyman role in his sleep, sympathetic as the broken man wrongly accused of the murder of his wife, but convincing as the hero out to find the truth. Equally important to the film however is Tommy Lee Jones as the man assigned to chase him down and it is both men'#39;s relentlessness that form the backbone to the film and keep the tension levels high throughout. The resolution to the film is a little weak with a final reveal that is not really surprising and a last act sequence that cannot match the rest of the film. Still it is an above average thriller.
Kimble: '#34;I didn'#39;t kill my wife!'#34; Gerard: '#34;I don'#39;t care.'#34; When Kimble (Ford) gets the jump on Gerard (Lee Jones) in the sewers, instead of shooting the marshal and making things worse, Kimble pleads his case to him. Gerard, responds with a simple, but brilliant and ad-libbed, '#34;I don'#39;t care.'#34; The line wasn'#39;t part of the script but those three words reinforced to Kimble, and audiences, that it didn'#39;t matter to Gerard whether the doctor was guilty or innocent of the crimes for which he was accused. He was going to get his man - no matter what.
Performances and script elevate this to a classic of the time and type.
'gt; "I don't care!" The phrase "they just don't make them like this anymore" rings so true when I rewatch this. Stacked cast with excellent storytelling and just an amazing thriller through and through. It almost makes me want to watch the tv show it is based on but why would I when I can just keep rewatching this masterpiece.
_The Fugitive_ is a classic 90's film that has stood the test of time. Harrison Ford delivers an outstanding performance as Dr. Richard Kimble, a man on the run after being wrongfully accused of his wife's murder. His portrayal of a desperate man fighting to clear his name is both convincing and agonizing. Equally impressive is Tommy Lee Jones, who plays the determined U.S. Marshal tasked with bringing Kimble to justice. Jones' sharp wit and relentless pursuit of his target make for an unforgettable character. Together, Ford and Jones make _The Fugitive_ a good watch for anyone who appreciates top-notch acting and a gripping story.
An excellent movie with a great story and brilliant actors. Must see
The leader in the clubhouse for movies adapted from a TV show.
It’s alright, kind of a typical thriller that relies too much on cheese and convenience for my taste. Tommy Lee Jones steals the movie, Ford’s character is pretty dull and only gets marginally more interesting in the second half. The story is just fine, it’s more of a vehicle to keep up the tension, which is fine but there’s nothing memorable about it. Even the twists left me pretty indifferent. The edit keeps a good pace, however the filmmaking is pretty lackluster overall. The cinematography (aside from a few great Chicago establishing shots) is bland, and some of the bombastic sound effects/score choices feel cheap or overblown. It’s a decent film for what it is, but I have no idea why the Academy pretended to have found their new Hitchcock. 5.5/10
'gt;-*"I didn't kill my wife!"* -*"I don't care."* Using dogs to track down the fugitive would have avoided this whole movie but we wouldn't have had such a classic. ***The Fugitive*** feels like a real, typical, "they don't make em' like that anymore" kind of action movie. Every dad knows this one. Harrison Ford is good as the protagonist with an engaging mystery to solve of why was he framed and by who? However, Tommy Lee Jones is the one that steals the spotlight as the badass detective trying to catch him. I wish they had more scenes together. It has some thrilling chase sequences supported by memorable action set pieces. What it's ultimately lacking is more of them, more action... the middle part is a bit of a drag to get through. It scraps some action to focus more on the mystery. It's a great mystery but I expected a better twist/conclusion to it. Enjoyed the third act and ending nevertheless. A good action movie overall but it's overhyped.
I don't get all the Academy Awards nominations it received. It's a good movie but there's nothing outstanding from every other 90s thriller, except for the main actors. The resolution to the murder case is confusing and unsatisfying.
Perfect adaptation of a classic TV series.
Perfect adaptation of a classic TV series.
One of the best action/crime movie in the late 90'#39;ties.
****Great Action Thriller starring Harrison Ford**** The Fugitive is a complex thriller with every detail playing a significant role in the outcome of the movie. It'#39;s the story of a conspiracy surrounding Dr. Richard Kimble, a surgeon who is on the run while U.S Marshal Samuel Gerard tries to find an explanation of why Kimble was framed for the murder of his wife. The movie has a sticking nature to it, every detail in the actors face will prove that Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones deserve every praise they have received for their performance. Spectacularly done in the tradition of crime/drama thrillers with Ford and Jones working better together than ever before. I found this film to be the best film experience of the early 90'#39;s, and hopefully you will too. My Score: 8/10.
First time seeing this and I'#39;m 25 years late to the party. This is a solid 90s action thriller that holds up decently well. The train wreck is great and most of the other action is good. The real driving force of the movie is Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. Both give amazing performances. The '#34;I don'#39;t care'#34; line was fantastic. It is a little too long and the third act isn'#39;t the best. Still this is a lot of fun.
Old classic.Brilliant plot with some great perfomances.Little predictable though but still enjoyable till the last minute. 7.6/10
Classic action thriller. Harrison Ford is so good good in this tense cat and mouse chase film.
Better than many thriller and Crime movies that are produced in the 2000s! This movie is pure gold.

***Top-of-the-line crime thriller with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones*** Released in 1993 and based on the TV show from 30 years earlier, “The Fugitive” stars Harrison Ford as Dr. Richard Kimble, an innocent fugitive framed for murder. As he pursues the one-armed killer & those who pulled his strings, a determined U.S. Marshal (Tommy Lee Jones) hunts Kimble down from wilderness regions to the streets of Chicago. The first 40 minutes contain the most action, hooking the viewer with an exhilarating bus wreck/train wreck followed by a phenomenal dam sequence. The rest of the movie is an intelligent and suspenseful cat-and-mouse chase with Kimble zeroing-in on those who framed him and why. “The Fugitive” was a deserved box office hit, costing $40 million and raking in $369 million with $184 of that domestically. To realize just how well-done it is, check out the sequel, “U.S. Marshals” (1998), which features the same basic plot, but without most of the magic. The film runs 2 hours, 10 minutes and was shot in Illinois and North Carolina; the dam sequence, for instance, was filmed at Cheoah Dam, Tapoco, North Carolina. GRADE: A-

Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones race around in circles for this memorable early '90s cat-and-mouse blockbuster, skillfully adapting and modernizing a four-season television series from thirty years prior. _The Fugitive_ doesn't fool around, racing through dozens of heavy plot points in the first hour without feeling overwhelming or hyperactive. It's a succinct, condensed version of a once-sprawling serial, one which trims away the obligatory TV padding without skipping any good bits. While it's trucking through those establishing shots, the story is a whiplash stunner; in the blink of an eye, we see our protagonist as a respected physician, grieving husband, bewildered murder suspect, sentenced convict, opportunistic escapee and outdoor survivalist, with one particularly well-executed train derailment thrown in to really kick off all the turmoil. Almost by necessity, the second act slows down to focus on the chase, balancing Ford's attempts to lay low with Jones's top-of-the-food-chain detective work. That performs well, too, a firm gear-shift from the opening salvo’s manic mayhem (one that's certainly assisted by its two phenomenal cornerstone stars), though it does lose its way as all the different points converge and the moment of resolution draws near. By contrast, the ending falls more on the bland, derivative side; careful suspense cast aside in favor of a big chair-tossing, pipe-swinging, rock'em'sock'em finale. These scenes are inoffensive, but a decided step down from what we'd seen and felt just prior. Put it this way: I still vividly recalled the bus crash and dam jump, decades after I last saw them. I'd forgotten all about the climactic rooftop fist fight. While the gettin's good, it's real good. A fairly simple premise with plenty of intrigue and gray morality, a tight script, more than one all-decade action set, a super-sized portion of Tommy Lee Jones intensity and lots and lots of chances for grim Harrison Ford to glance worriedly over his shoulder. Maybe not perfect, but it still holds up.
