This was called _The Evil Eye_ on Shudder, which is a super basic title compared to the LB title, and it's also considered the very first Giallo and honestly, this was such a great film. It's a moody, stylish and delightfully silly early Giallo with unbelievably stunning black and white cinematography. The visual style and direction create this nightmarish quality that's difficult to capture effectively. I know I've only seen a handful of Bava's work but this is probably the best in any of his film. He uses many interesting Roman locations and shooting them in as many creative ways. Combine it with the right amount of mystery, suspense and funny bits, you get this great film that helped set the template for the many Gialli to come. Letícia Román as the lead is absolutely stunning and the addition of goofy romance stuff make her a more engaging character.
