The Crawlers is a low-budget horror movie that asks "what if the rape roots from The Evil Dead attacked a small town?"
Before I proceed, The Crawlers is not a sequel to Troll 2... sadly.
Also, don't be fooled by the poster, this is not a schlocky sci-fi horror movie with hot, big-breasted women running around - now that I would like to see.
This is a bad movie, but what's important to understand is there are bad movies that were made by total incompetents, and those made by people who had a good idea, but lacked either the skill or budget to make a great film. I believe this to be the latter. See, there are actually some good moments here: some of the dialog is intentionally funny, some of the acting is okay, the plot isn't too silly. With some tightening up, this could be a b-movie classic.
Where this film suffers most is in the writing. Pro-tip, if the characters are going to say or do something, make sure it matters in terms of the story. Also, unless a character needs an arc for the story to be interesting, don't give them one, just make them likable.
So, yeah, Crawlers isn't too bad. There's no nudity, but there was a pretty good gore scene - I was not expecting that. If you're someone who likes bad movies, make some popcorn, invite over some friends to torture, and watch it.
