Obviously I watched this movie for the second time now. Interestingly I could not remember a single thing from the first time, I couldn't even remember having watched it. Which should tell you a thing or two.
This movie should be good but it just isn't. LaBeouf's character is a complete as****e who is lucky not to get a black eye everywhere. And his turnaround at the end was not convincing. As was the whole end in itself.
The FBI doesn't deserve the "I" because they practically do nothing by themselves. The tried to get those "terrorists" for 30 years and than catch a lucky break in getting the first one. And while they seem not be able to put together the pieces, here comes a local newspaper wannabe bigshot journalist who does in three days what the FB(not)I couldn't do in 30 years. Agent "we are the good guys" Cornelius is nothing but a clothes rack.
You have a tremendous cast that get's very little opportunity to shine. They all do their job with what they are given but beside the fact they are all in the movie I couldn't find anything special.
This should have been a gripping thriller instead it felt like a hollow drama about a guy chasing his former love and the whole political agenda was just an excuse to hint at something bigger.
I initialy rated this a 6 which I now turn down to a 5.
