Far from Argento’s best work. Corny poker scenes. Kills are all off screen, nothing really to write home about. But, a fair enough murder mystery to make it worth a watch. Probably just once though.

The Card Player ends up being a straight-up thriller with little to no “giallo” mixed in. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad, but a gimmick that hasn’t aged well, and the lack of anything even remotely resembling the visual flair Argento are known for, did mean it had quite the job of More
