The Angel is like a hotel blanket: it covers a lot but isn't very stylish.

This movie (based on a true story) looks like history written by the victor, tbh. Ashraf Marwan, an Egyptian man (son-in-law to the king) with a penchant for gambling, curiosity regarding sexcapades, and a crippling debt decides to spy for Israel because he wants ... [checks notes] to bring about world peace.

Nothing about money, of course (they even show him forgetting to take the money during one is his trips, so there you go, must be true). Plus he didn't sleep with the hot British actress who was throwing herself at him and who he was photographed kissing (he's married, he kept telling her). Nope, just him being a nice guy selflessly saving humanity. There's even a card at the end saying he's the only guy in the world whose viewed as a hero by both Egypt and Israel. (What's Bob Seger's phone number? ' Cause I wanna call BS.)

What's just as bad, the whole film is framed as a retelling of The Boy Who Cried Wolf, but that story isn't at all coherent with what happens in the film, so every 'aha' moment ends up an 'aw shit' moment.

Someone thought they had a good idea for a movie but it turned out to be a dubious edit to a wiki page.
